My ant has a real old computer, almost 3 years old now if im not mistaken she has AMD Athlon 3400 she complains its very slow and when she plays half life episode 2 (new one out) the computer frezes. She also has vista as Operating System.

Im flying over to visit her next week and i was thinking of buying her a Nvidia geforce fx 5500 PCI (she only has pci slots i made her check with Astra32). I will also install fresh copy of windows xp cos im thinking vista is eating up her ram making her pc slow. Anyways if i buy nvidia geforce fx 5500 pci 128mb will it be able to run games we have today on low settings?

Your aunt's PC can never be a real gamer's PC because it does not have a true graphics expansion port (AGP or PCIe). PCI bus is SLOW for 3D graphics acceleration. There are no fast graphics card for PCI because PCI bus is the bottleneck. BUT that PC would still be useful for many other applications.

Your device will run XP without alterations or situation because it exceeds the device standards for XP. you would be making a mistake via going returned to XP as help is ending quickly consistent with Microsoft or maybe if if it is not a clean boxed set up with a valid product key it ought to end working. you will ought to acquire provider %. 3 for XP it is composed of provider packs a million,2 and 3. First circulate to the laptop producer help and make sur all the drivers on your laptop to run XP are accessible.

Try going here. Althou you're not on your aunts computer you can still go into whatever game's window you're wondering about and click on "Scan now" It will scan your system but, after the scan is complete it will show what the requirements for that game are and you can compare your aunts rig to what they show: You only have to scan your system the first time. After that, when you click on "scan now" in a games window then click on "Skip analysis" because it saves your scan results.:

yes I agree with steve on this one, the more ram she has the better, certainly put XP on it, vista will be taking too many resources for the old machine.
