I know I will be probably flamed for this but yes: many times in my life.
I am Greek and I feel embarrassed for this most times when abroad. Like when seeing Greeks who think that is cool to show everyone how loud and rude they are. Or when seeing other countries how well organized they are. Or when knowing that I cannot rely on the government that I pay my taxes to for almost anything (like health or education or anything actually) as they are busy getting mizes. Or even here in Y!A. I am relatively new in this but not many sections get some many votes and thumbs like here (except from a few other countries).
I never really understood the phrase 'I am proud of my country'. It sounds like thinking the country is perfect and nothing should be changed. But think again: nothing is perfect and countries change by their people.
Manos Hadjidakis once said that the song 'Η Ελλάδα ποτέ δεν πεθαίνει (Greece never dies)' is totally wrong: if something never dies how will it resurrect and reinvent itself?
Anyway, I agree with him.

Many times - I'm British and am very embarassed to see my fellow countrymen absolutely drunk off their head on holiday in Greece. Also ashamed of the 'get your boobs out for the lads attitude of girls in my area in UK. My Greek brother in law (much to his horror - and much to my husband's disappointment - that it wasn't him) has been flashed a few times! - Having said this I can also be proud - when the Brits are so friendly, helpful and polite. And prouder still when they are having fun and laughing - boy do I miss the happy faces / jokes / fun/ being able to laugh at oneself which is so British!

On the otherhand - I have been equally embarassed by Greece (my chosen country and husband's homeland) The way it treats its animals - old people - mentally ill - handicapped - or basically anyone with a different colour skin or nationality. I have been embarassed by rudeness - corruption - litter and ignorance.

But I have also been proud of the family unit - the attitude towards children - the proudness of parents when describing their children. Proudness of their country. I've been impressed (or dumbfounded) at the ability to see no wrong in their country!

Every country/nationalities have their good and bad points - if we could take a bit of each country/nationality and mix it together we'd have the perfect nationality and country! But sadly the world would be a boring place if we were all the same!

It became interior the information for weeks because of the fact quite a few extensive companies suffered from it, some even lost thousands of greenbacks. i think embarrassed each time its shown on television because of the fact newshounds stored emphasizing the place he's from as though all Filipinos are like him. there is likewise this Andrew Cunanan who killed the in call for style clothier Gianni Versace. although he grew up interior the US, newscasters save pointing out the certainty that his roots is Filipino.

I'm embarrassed by the US lately, some of the actions of Bush have really been dishonest. No nation is perfect, and its only sensible for countries to make mistakes and learn from their experiences.

i'm very proud to be an american and love that god blessed me with it. Sometimes it's embarrassing when they have the toothless trailer trash on the news when a tornado went through there trailer park - the news stations always find the weirdest people to put on the news. if other countries see that clip, they automatically think that's what america is and that is not the truth of it all.

No, though the media and government sure likes to make people hate who they are, espicially in Europe where they demonize white people.
