I never thought he should have been fired He was a good coach they just were not getting the recruits they did in the past. ALl of them are going to Ohio State and USC and thats the Universities fault not Coker's

I don't think Coker would have done much better with the team this year than Shannon. At least Shannon has brought in tougher discipline for the players. Coker was a good coach but not a difference maker.

No, Coach Coker at the end of his career was having a terrible time relating to his players and as a disciplinarian he was a joke. The new coach brought order to a team in trouble. Turning that team around takes longer than one year. Give him some time. I'm sure you will be singing his praises soon enough.

I still don't think Coker should have been kept around, although I do miss his recruiting abilities. Ideally he would have been the one getting the kids to Miami, where they'd be coached by someone else.
His coaching abilities just never impressed me. Sure he won a national championship, but a monkey could have won with that Canes team that demolished Nebraska. I just saw Coker make too many bad decisions during his tenure to wish that he was still around.

Probably needed to clean house rather than hire an assistant. They need a proven entity from outside the university.
They do have some good recruits coming in next year, so may the current coach can turn things around. Although, Ohio State just pulled a top recruit right out of the Miami area.
