I am not sure how much I owe but...

I have not returned a book I borrowed from a public library back in third grade. I took it over to a friend's house, left it there and it got lost. It has been about 11 years?

I also rented and lost a DVD from Blockbuster about 1 1/2 years ago.

Boy do I have a story for you!!!!! I ended up paying a lawyer $1400 because of a movie that got lost when I moved, the move was an emergency and the movie got put into a box, the states attorney was charging me with theft under $300 after I had taken the movie back and paid the owner a reduced late fee of $50. Even after I took in a letter and the owner called the states attorney they were still going to charge me!!!!!!! I am still very sore about the whole situation, but I was taking it to jury trial and it got dismissed!!!!

WOW! Where I live the library charges 10 cents a day late fees up to the cost of the book...same with movie rentals... Once the cost is recouped, it's over...I can't believe these $500, $300 stories...How crazy is that?

My boyfriend had a movie for over a year he was actually arrested and fined $500.00 for the movie. The movie place dropped the charges when the movie was given back but he still had to pay the 500

A while back, I returned a movie to Blockbusters, which had been out so long, they didn't have a record of it anymore. (it had been several years.) I rarely rent movies, and they said I wasn't in the computer anymore. I said 'Well, here's your movie', and they thanked me and I left. I thought it was pretty nice of them. Sometime I guess I might go back and open another account, but haven't seen the need to yet. I get enough stuff on television to keep me happy. Thanks!

Way back when video stores were just starting out, one tried to charge me $80 for the cost of the movie because I couldn't find it. Apparently in the 80's that's how much a vhs movie cost.
