someone told me that since 9/11 the Government is tracking where you get mail delivered? They said that is is part of the open records and you can find out where people have had mail delivered for the past several years? Does anyone have any information on this?

This someone is my husband (soon not to be) who had background information run on several of my friends (*hence the ex to be part). He made a claim that since 9/11 the govenment is tracking where mail is going. ie..he claims that one of my friends had mail delivered to another persons address...these two people do not know each other, this much I am sure. just wondering if he is LYING, he is very conviencing.

I cannot see the post office being able to do that since half the time they cannot get the mail into the correct bos anyway. like you i think it sounds like crap, I just want to find out.

Only targetted personalities are being monitored for the mails that they send or receive.

Mule muffins! Even with passage of the Patriot Act, surveillance on mail is done under strict conditions and involves obtaining warrants from the Federal Intelligence and Surveilliance Act (FISA) Court, established in 1978. So, unless your husband's friend has pledged "Bayat" (Loyalty) to Usama Bin Laden or some other whack job like him, the Feds aren't tracking his mail.

You can find out for 6 months. Every time you change your address you have to fill out a change of address form and that is public record. Although I don't think ten years is quite feasible. Check Your Source!

This "Someone" person, sure has a lot of information. He is quoted all the time. Especially when it comes to conspiracies and urban myths. Such is the case here!

Well, since the post office is a government entity, I would be inclined to say yes.

Sounds like bullhockey to me. Would be quite easy to defeat by leaving off your return address and leaving it in a blue box.
