well I know I get slight ones from trollies in superstores, think that is due to the material of your shoes and the static ???

I know if I touch people in owrk they get shocks off me too, not frightening ones like you may be referring to.

Do not dabble in electrics if unsure !!!

Seriously, some brigth spark will give you a good answer . Ha, get it, bright spark.

An electrical shock is when the body is subject to an electric current (amps). Since your nerves work on electical impulses, the electical current (anything in the range of your nerve signals or greater) cause your muscles to contract. That is why some electrical shocks are bad because you can not let go of it. If the electrical current is high enough, it will shock the brain and the brain won't work, the heart won't work. If the electric current is high enough, it heats up your body enough to burn it.

A shock can happen if your body becomes part of the electrical circuit.

A taser produces high voltage and a relatively small current (amps) so it does not usually kill people but it does shock them enough that it hurts like heck.

Shocks can be very bad, instant death or life with significant brain damage.

Let me put it this way. If you tough the leads in a car when it is running you will get about 50,000 volts through you but at a very low reading of amps, so you feel it and you will jump about a little.

Put that 50,000 volts through a t five amps ( domestic ampage in UK on 230 volts) and it will fry you internal organs in their own juice and there will be a lot less of your brain becaaause that will be fried as well. All in all it is not worth finding out first hand
