Im entering my senior year in high school and have been playing baseball my entire life. During my junior year i hit .330 at the plate and i started taking the game seriously and ive been working out everyday and hitting.
The only problem is that I havent even been sniffed by a college scout. However last summer i played legion ball and hit .400 and played solid in the outfield. Its my dream to go and play at a good college and then after college to prolong my baseball career in the big leagues. However I know the odds. If I go on to play at a d3 college, do I have any shot whatsoever or should I just give up on my dream.
Another problem that I have is my size right now I'm currently 5 10 and only weigh about 150 and dont have to much bulk to me.
Do I have any realistic shot at someday becoming that good if I play through college? People who have seen me play now would say I have no shot. I feel like a small fish in a big pond and that no matter how hard I try I will never reach it

I will tell you this, if you are good enough MLB scouts will find you at a D3 college. At 150 lbs you better be an exceptional player to get a look or they will move on to the 200 lb guy. Remember this, if you have exceptional talent you will be the only fish in the pound and scouts will come from everywhere to see you, that is their job. Keep this in mind, the very best players you have seen or played against in high school will have a slim chance on making it all the way and you have to be better than them.

Scouts will find you at some point if you have the talent, I played High School ball for a small school that no one had heard of, I recieved many D1 offers after an great Senior year and two great Legion years but turned them down to go for a shot at the big leagues. My biggest advice is that if you can get a scholarship take it, your education is expensive and without a first round pick signing bonus it will be hard to ever make up the money that goes into an education. You should never give up your dream, work as hard as possible; try to put on weight, College may help to put on the bulk that you need. As Jimmy V said, "Don't give up, Don't ever give up!!"

Follow your dreams buddy. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't make it. Unfortunately luck and geography have a lot to do with it. Big schools in certain areas get all of the attention.

I played football...never got noticed and went to a D3 school to play football just to stay in shape. I was not the strongest guy out there by far but ended up an All American...only the second in the school's history. Looking back I could have transferred to a D1 school and possibly entered the NFL but I preffered to stay with my teammates and finish it out...getting to the first conference championship and first playoff game in school history. I also have played at every level of football except the NFL.

My advice...do what you are doing. Work hard, give it your all and if the big schools don't come knocking go to a D3 school. College athletics are where you will have the most fun playing sports after that it becomes a job and not as much fun. You can always transfer after a year or two or stick it out with your buddies.

It's always good to follow your dreams but your priorities may change down the road. Fame and fortune aren't everything in life...do what you enjoy the most.

Good Luck!

Good for you! Keep on pursuing your dreams go to college and play there, thats where you'll get drafted, not many scouts come to high schools.
