x + 15 = 4 * (x - 9)

3x = 51

x=17

Let B be the age of Bernie now.

B + 15 = 4 ( B - 9 )
B + 15 = 4B - 36
51 = 3B
17 = B

Current age is x
x + 15 = 4( x -9)
x + 15 = 4x - 36
51 = 3x
x =17

She is 17 years old .
