try this:

ow to find the distinguished name of an Exchange 5.x object

In UserManagemeNT you sometimes need to know the object distinguished name of a Microsoft Exchange 5.x object. This is for instance the case, if you want to add a mailbox to a distribution list. In this case you need to specify the distribution list by its object distinguished name. Such a name looks like:

/o=Simac Software Products/ou=US/cn=Recipients/cn=dislist

The object distinguished name can be found with the Microsoft Exchange 5.x Administrator application by using the following procedure:

1.

Start the Microsoft Exchange Administrator application in raw mode. Add the /r option to the command line to startup the Microsoft Exchange Administrator application in raw mode. This command looks like
C:\Exchange\bin\ADMIN.EXE /r
2.

Find and select the object of which you want to know the object distinguished name.
3.

Select menu option File, Raw Properties. A dialog is shown.
4.

From the list with Object attributes, select the entry Obj-Dist-Name.
5.

In the fields Edit value and Attribute value, the object distinguished name is displayed. You can select the whole entry from one of these fields and press Control-Insert to copy the object distinguished name to the clipboard.
