iPod only allows you to use iTunes music service. If you want to use another service, you have to purchase the music from that service, save it to your hard drive, then open iTunes to get it on to your iPod.

The Creative supports almost all of the music services.

When you get right down to it -- mp3 is the only format that matters. Every music service has their own format for music you haven't purchased (such as monthly subscription music service where you can play any song and/or download it to yoru music player), but when you purchase an individual song or album, everyone suports MP3.

If you want to subscribe to a monthly download/play service, the iPod will ONLY support iTunes, but the Creative gives you many, many choices.

creative has more support for audio and video, and actually takes the same formats as itunes, AAC.

if you like the design, and price, of ipods and itunes...then get an ipod

personally i like creative, they are more solid players and not as expensive and there are many file types it accepts...they are the better player, pound for pound
