I am some what close to the gay community around here. A few of my friends are gay and I go to the gay/lesbian clubs with them. None of them like Cher. Actually, I don't know anyone who does like her. She is probably just saying that to get someone to like her. Its not working.

I think she says that because her songs are popular in all types of bars/clubs for the dance remixes. Also, a lot of drag queens/female impersonators tend to "channel" Cher in their shows, along with Tina Turner, Marilyn Monroe, etc.

She’s their best friend because she has lots of other gay men as friends. If you were gay, and wanted to meet other gays, you could either go to a gay bar, or go hang around with Cher. A gay man’s bound to pop up sooner or later.

Fletcher, some of these guys love her for style and her performances. I do too and I think she looks great. (We are the same age.) Apparently, she is in the same category as Liza Minelli and Bette Middler. They buy her records and come to her concerts and she certainly relies on that.
