I think it would be awesome to visit other countries for Christmas - every culture has their own way of celebrating it.

Not me. I'm sentimental, and like being at home, spending the day with the family and having the Christmas tree and cooking a big Christmas dinner.
But I'd agree with Fireball and take off the day after Christmas!

Not me.. but I catch your drift.. Sometimes it can be a headache. Just try making a point to start earlier next year. It does help. Here is what i try to do: Christmas wrap, cards and decorations needed are all bought in Januray at 80% off and saved until next year. Then I start picking things up here and there beginning in June/July, stash them away until Christmas.. then come December 1st.. I am done! No shopping hassles, no crowds, no financial stresses.. and I can enjoy baking, spending time with family and enjoying the season. But yes, a cruise sounds tempting... maybe after Christmas. Best Wishes!

We stopped traveling (10 hour drive) to family for Christmas when the children came along. We also wanted the kids to have Christmas at their own house. Our families came up with the idea of celebrating Christmas the weekend before Christmas. On Saturday we went to his family and on Sunday we went to mine. Then we packed up and headed back to have our own Christmas at home. Relatives were always invited to come see us if they wanted, but no one ever did.

Some place where my hotel room is right on the beach.
Everything inclusive.
Turquise water, hot sand, drink in my hand.
No shoes, no shirt, no problem.
~ahhh~
