There are no barbers, the closest thing is a Turkish barber but they don't like white people or Americans. I honestly have never seen an barber shop anywhere in Europe except in Ireland and the UK.

I'm in Germany

Most hair dressers are unisex, so they get male and female customers.
But if you are not up to that, ask in your hotel, hostel or at the tourist information office, they will know a 'male only' shop.
My father, in the Netherlands, never goes to one of the shops where women come.....
Hair dressers are hair dressers, beauty salons are something different, they would advertise that on the window.
Be careful, you might meet a nice young girl there.

Added:
The 'no smoking in the workspace' laws make smoking at the hairdressers forbidden in most of Europe, but I have never seen anyone smoke at the hairdressers in a long time.
Make-up they use on themselves is not contagious, so you should be safe from it.
But you can ask for a male only place, there are still some of those in every country I know about.

Hairdressers are unisex all over Europe, even in Ireland and the UK. Barbers and Beauty salons in Ireland are very obviously single sex and are the exception and there are much more unisex than these.

Go in to one of them. They'll do it for you and probably do a damn good job. Alternatively seek out a Barbers.
Where are you though?
