December 26th is depressing because the Old father in white & red did not give people what they really wished and they know they have to wait for the next Christmas in order to see their dreams made true. Of course this never happens. Yet, I do not think that the festivities are over after the 25th, since I invented the January 1st feast: I started some years ago this feast, giving my parents and friends presents on the 1st day of the New Year: it is a good idea since people usually think that 'the way you started is the way you will go on all the year, and the way you will end'. A good start is very important. As a matter of fact You could object that January 2nd is a very depressing day. No problem at all: on the 2nd day of the New Year we'll begin to wait for the January 6th (fiesta the los ninos que nunca crescen). The day after the January 6th is very depressing, since really all the feast are gone, but we also have the 'remedium' for this annoing detail: think about the fact that February 14th is next to come, that the Feast of Fools will come, sooner or later, and Easter time, the first of May, and all the other happy days in your family. In this way you will survive overwinning your depression, even when all the Feast are disappointing and doomed to the unavoidable unhappy end. forgive my bad English, but I am not American

Last Christmas I felt the same way.
My brother was in Iraq, my sister was out of town and I had to work that day.
I was supposed to go to my aunt's house after I got home from work but instead I just stayed home and cried.
The day after Christmas some of my friends and family came over and visiting with them put me in a better mood.
So my two cents worth of advice, is to celebrate with your loved ones that are near you or maybe volunteering at a soup kitchen would help to bring you out of your funk.
There is an old saying that goes" If you light a lamp for somebody, it will also brighten your path."
God bless, I will pray for your son-in-law's safety in Iraq.

Here's something, I dunno:
Oh you're a holiday, such a holiday
It's something I thinks worthwhile
If the puppet makes you smile
If not then you're throwing stones
Throwing stones, throwing stones
Ooh it's a funny game
Don't believe that it's all the same
Can't think what I've just said
Put the soft pillow on my head
Millions of eyes can see
Yet why am I so blind
When the someone else is me
It's unkind, it's unkind

I just finally went out today to do a bit of shoppping. I haven't finished decorating the house yet and I really don't want to this year. But I have to because of the kiddies.
I don't have any great words for you, but I do know that you're family would not want to see you all bummed out.
So, SNAP OUT OF IT SISTER!!!
I shall also take that advice.

i get the same way every yr. I haven't been home with my family for any holiday since 1988. I live in Mo. and they live in Pa. and it is too far to drive in bad weather and I really hate to fly. I just make the best of it here with my husbands family and talk to mine on the phone.

Have you watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special, Sis, or those old Rankin-Bass specials? They always get me a little more festive.
Right now, I'm lucky, though. The little Sweeties get so excited, it's contageous. If I could bottle it, I'd send you some.

Yeah, I'm bummed right with you. The kids are without Daddy, I am without my honey, but thankfully I get to see you soon! We can scrap the "funk" off of eachother with a friendly game of Scrabble, you know, the kind of game where I kick your @$$! LOL

You are not alone. Everyone experiences their trials during this Christmas season. I think it all comes together though. That's what is great about Yahoo. You come to learn that you aren't alone and I think you find a lot of support here.
