I really like your Que. and it's a fact that seems to be ignored these days!

You've got a valid point and a prof of how media and every thing else is ganged up against Islam, Muslims!

There's not a day goes by and we don't hear some made up or exaggerated story about Islam and Muslims.

It's just too ridiculous!!

I can not remember if Ive seen a program about Jew's criminal acts in Israel.

Oh sorry, i forgot they're god's children!!
Only Muslims are evil and do crimes! by giving their lands to Jews on silver plate!!

ADDI: this Mrs. X is full of hot air and BS!
I bet his day time job is lobbying for Israel and protest against Arabs in the evening!!

ADDII: I guess, Mrs. X did rather to cut and run!! Too sensitive!

From the Israelis I have meet, who are all under the age of 40 and non religious (yes you read it right), the women in Israel are not treated as second class citizens, in fact they have a some what of a matrilineal culture in the the mother plays a very important roll in the family, and this is shown by the fact that the right of being Hebrew comes from the mother and not the father.
However in the temple the women must sit up stares up down at the men as they partake the ceremony. this may also be a position of advantage, if you think about the old Roman senate.
As for divorce see below

1. When A man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
2. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.

And

Isaiah 50:1: "Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away?..."
bulletJeremiah 3:8: "And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce..."

These with more information can be found at the link provided

I can not say much more than this as my knowledge and personnel experience is lacking here. But I got the impression from those Israelis I have known that women are highly respected and thus if a situation occurred where the wife wishes for divorce the husband would grant it.

Well, virginity is a big deal for men, even here in LA. And i guess it goes the same for Muslims too, now it is interesting to me, that men go out with as many women they can, but they have to marry a virgin girl ?! lol
But how the women are treated, is really depends on the men some good and some bad . Pretty much like other countries.

Best Regards.

"The Jewish community readily admits that the shameful situation of the agunah, a woman chained to an unwanted or non-existent marriage who cannot be released without her husband's consent, is unjust. It is common knowledge that some Jewish husbands withhold their consent to a religious divorce or get, in order to extort exorbitant sums of money from their wives as the "price" for the get. Nonetheless, the Jewish community, despite a high level of educational attainment, financial success, organizational skills and traditional commitment to social justice, has been unable or unwilling to find solutions to the painful problem of the agunah."
