For openers, Comcast highspeed internet isn't DSL; that is a term associated with dialup and telephone internet. Comcast transmits their internet signal through your cable TV coaxial, which makes its extremely fast - up to 8 MB, and with powerboost, which is a feature Comcast provides free, the first half of your download is increased approximately 50%. The cost is effective if you are after faster internet speed on an "over all" basis. Plus Comcast provides you the cable modem and installation.

usually when you go up in price, you are usually paying for faster speeds. Whether or not you need that speed depends on what you do. For online gaming, I would suggest getting the fastest you can afford. For example, I have road runner. I was paying 40 dollars a month for a max upload of 500kbps and max download of 6mbps.....I upgraded to the next package for 15 dollars more for a max upload of 1mbps and 10mbps download....I'm online most of the time and i game online so it was a noticeable and worthy upgrade.

Bottom line, if the the speed you get know is good enough for you, save your money.
