For example, George Clooney is still the hottest man on earth, Sean Conery, Michael Douglas, Kurt Russell..etc. but who r the older actresses that r still considered pretty? Can't think of any. Demi Moore? Not really.

It's unfortunate that the standards of beauty are different for men and women. Men are considered more handsome as they age, as they get those creases, they're hair starts to gray and they get more rugged and distinguished looking. In Hollywood, many men seem to hit their prime in their 40's, looks wise.
Unfortunately, it's not the case for women. There's such a premium placed on looks that any little imperfection that a women has (look at all that Jennifer Love Hewitt mess) is magnified and gives unrealistic expectations not only to the public, but also puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the stars who are constantly in the public eye. Our bodies and our skin changes as we get older and while this is celebrated in men, it's all about youth for the women.
I blame magazines like In Touch and Star who love to run features of magified images of crows feet, love handles or whatever which sends the message that apparently it's not ok for women to age. But then on the other side, a star is called plastic and fake looking (Nicole Kidman and her alleged botox) if they succumb to the pressure to try to maintain their youth.
Damned if you, damned if you don't.
I would love to see more films with good parts for older actresses - LEAD roles and in romantic comedies, dramas and all the genres that the lead is normally played by a younger actor.

Like most cultures, ours is a patriarchal one. While ours may not be as much so as it was 20, 30, 50 or 100 years ago,it definitely still is.
Historically (and generally) men have desired youth and beauty in a woman. Women looked for power and wealth, which can be equated to security. Youth and beauty, of course, fades with time - wealth and power may not always do so. I think the fact that men are perceived as handsome later in life is a result of this deep-rooted line of thinking.
While things have certainly changed for the better - (again, generally) men and women recognize and accept a more equal perspective regarding relationships. Hundreds of years of patriarchy is very hard to undo, however. Studies show that (generally, again) men still place more emphasis on looks and women still place more emphasis on financial status in their respective ideal mates.
It's actually quite ironic that such a liberal and "forward" thinking sector of our society is still very old-fashioned in their customs regarding man-woman relationships. As it was more common 100 years ago for middle-aged men to court young women (often in their teens), so is it more common to do likewise in Hollywood.
Of course it is also the fault of the audience- that being the general public (though not me personally (to risk sounding arrogant))- for they ultimately decide what is appealing in a couple on the screen. While it seems many people scoff at the idea of a much older male actor wooing a young female actor in a movie, these movies still seem to do well.
-I saw the pics from the new Indiana Jones - Harrison looks like he wants to put his whip down and gum some prunes.

I agree it is quite bizarre. I think this has something to do with women wanting the best man genetically (and genetics tend not to change much with age) while men care more about things like smooth skin and high fertility in women (and such things inevitably get worse with age).
Also thinks like toughness and daring are seen as sexy in men (think Johnny Depp in Pirates of The Carribean) and this can be expressed at any age...wheras personallity characteristics admired in women are often limited to pure physical beauty, which always, to some extent, fades with age.

Sophia Loren, Marg Helgenberger (CSI)Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City)Meryl Streep, all are as old or older than Clooney. And they are all beautiful women. Kim even appeared occasionally sans cloths in the series and she's mighty fine ;-)
Sophia Loren is in her 70's
