I've been embarrassed since I was a teen (after watching porn) that I'm not circumcised.

In my opinion a circumcised penis has a more attractiveness compare to an uncircumcised penis, I know women would agree with that .

I'm now 22 years old and planning on getting an adult circumcision and wondered how bad will it hurt and how much will it cost me?

Women don't agree with that, not all women, in fact only a minority of women in the world (mostly centred around the USA). Most women are attracted to the guy as a whole package, but given that 80% of men in the world aren't circumcised, I think it's safe to say women have no problems (most prefer) with an uncircumcised penis. People in Europe for example I have heard say really negative things about the scar line and the more dry glans. Also in porn with the foreskin back on a hard uncut penis you might not be able to tell if it's cut or not.

Anyway your penis so your choice. The cost depends on whether you choose general anaesthetic or not. as you have no medical reasons it will be expensive, possibly over $1000. You don't say where you live. You get anaesthetic and pain killers, but they say recovery is painful and uncomfortable, and of course you have to go without sex/masturbation.

Great question and thanks for posting. I 100% agree with you. The problem is, adults can state if they are in any pain and can also give informed consent to the procedure- babies can't. As I have stated before, physiological research has shown bodily responses that indicate infants experience severe pain during circumcision. Local anesthetic isn't very reliable. Many people are ignorant when it comes to circumcision and that's one of the biggest problems. Many mothers simply back circumcision simply because their fathers, husbands or brothers have been circumcised. My father is American and is circumcised, he is a Doctor and obviously a very educated man but won't admit that circumcision is unnecessary. Not sure why? Evidence proves that it is! I think the main reason is that perhaps if he does admit what was done to him was wrong, he will have to admit that he had a mutilating procedure forced on him at birth? Many people are brainwashed into thinking circumcision is 'healthy'. Thankfully the rates are now declining in the USA. Oh, edit,- to Sandy mom of 2: Unfortunately, when your sons are older, you are going to have to explain to them why their mother made a bad choice. Medical evidence does NOT support circumcision as being of any prophylaxis benefit in the Western developed world. You have put your sons through two unnecessary procedures, based on your ignorance. Circumcision is child abuse.

Circumcision is perpetrated on male infants to prevent them from having any choice in the matter, and because an infant cannot defend himself against the assault and the mutilatio of his penis. Animals aren't treated that cruelly in the USA; the ASPCA would be organizing mass demonstrations throughout the country! But it's open season on the infant male's penis. Female circumcision of minors is illegal in every civilized country (except Sudan--which just legalized it a couple of months ago) as it's considered to be genital mutilation. Genital mutilation is genital mutilation; regardless of the sex of the victim. Have you ever noticed how all of the pro-circ people never, ever address the issues of the adverse effects and complications that can and do result from the mutilation of circumcision? Circumcision is neural and vascular damage of the penis; that's what it is and that's what it does. Somehow, the males in Europe, Scandinavia, South America and most of Asia manage to survive with intact penises. And their infection rates aren't killing off everyone in these areas; their HIV rates are very substantially lower, the STD rates are slightly lower. But I guess that some of us Americans are slow learners. Some of them still can't grasp the concept that an undamaged penis works better and feels better than a damaged one. DUH! Circumcision is the worst hoax ever perpetrated on the male sex. A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright. ERIC

Circumcision at your age will be painful and result in at least a recovery time of at least a week - sometimes shorter. The cost is going to be significantly more than $100.00 as it is a COSMETIC surgery rather than a medical necessity. Most women I know really don't care whether their men are circumcised or not - what they DO CARE about is SAFE SEX PRACTICES and cleanliness.

You need to talk to a Urologist. They are the ones who do circumcisions on males over 2 months old. If it is for cosmetic reasons only, insurance will not pay for it, so you need to check with the doctor and the facility you will have it done to verify the cost. If it is done under general anesthesia there is also the cost for the Anesthesiologist. If you have chronic infections of the penis and foreskin then it is considered a medical need and insurance will cover the procedure. You must have documented cases of infection for the insurance to consider it. Do your research, get more than one opinion and choose your surgeon carefully...

I agree about the attractiveness, but we're the only country (the US) that routinely circumcises. It won't hurt that bad - they numb it all up and whatnot before they do it and it'll take a good week to heal. As for the cost, you'd have to call around and have consultations to find that out and some insurances will cover it.

For the most part, when erect uncircumcised and circumcised guys look pretty similar. If you keep it clean (takes less than 10 seconds to pull back and rub the head) it shouldn't be a problem. You also have plenty of advantages.

From what my friend told me, the first week was painful, and second was so so, but he couldn't have sex/masturbate for a month (to prevent from preventing healing of the wound).

It's a permanent surgery, so make sure you choose wise. There's no going back or trial period. Consider the following.

Circumcision has become less common, though. Circumcision rates were as high as 90% back in the 1960s and 1970s (that's partly why today's adults are so... brainwashed, I supposed you could say, about thinking that circumcision is better) but they have fallen to as low as 14% in some states. Here are the statistics:
http://www.cirp.org/library/statistics/USA/staterates2004/

The USA is the last developed nation doing it to a large number of newborns without religious or medical needs. (Europeans, Latin Americans, Japanese, and most Australians, Canadians, and Asians don't circumcise):
http://www.circumstitions.com/Maps.html

Why?

In a medical study, it was found that females are more likely to hit orgasm with an uncircumcised man:
http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html

The lubricated foreskin (on the inside... like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head (which is why you don't hear of uncircumcised guys needing lube to masturbate).
http://www.cirp.org/pages/anat/

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,285532,00.html

And despite being more sensitive, uncircumcised guys still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1743-6109.2005.00070.x

Circumcision makes masturbation more difficult:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06646.x

Which makes sense, that's how circumcision was promoted in the USA:
http://english.pravda.ru/science/health/27-03-2006/77873-circumcision-0

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=14979200&dopt=Abstract%7C

If too much skin is removed in circumcision, it can make the penis smaller since the penis needs some skin to expand during an erection:
http://drgreene.org/body.cfm?id=21&action=detail&ref=1125
http://www.altermd.com/Penis%20and%20Scrotal%20Surgery/buried_penis.htm

Circumcision does not completely stop penile cancer. The American Cancer Society has already confirmed the myth that circumcision = no cancer.
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_2X_Can_penile_cancer_be_prevented_35.asp

If circumcision did stop penile cancer, then penile cancer would not be more common in the USA (most circumcised adults) than in some European nations, where circumcision is not practiced other than for medical/religious reasons.
http://www.circumstitions.com/Cancer.html

And a new study found that circumcision does not reduce your chances to get HIV/AIDS. Unlike other studies, this one was done in a developed nation; the USA.

you shouldn't be embarrassed. I'll admit that back when I had only had two circumcised boyfriends I didn't think I would ever like an uncircumcised guy, but my third and current boyfriend is uncircumcised and I ended up loving it. I've found it easier to handle and lubes are rarely needed. he's always clean so I'm guessing that's not an issue.

It isn't bad! I was done at 18 with a local in the Doctors office. Was told to ice it for a few days and Motrin if needed for pain. Really not a big deal.....I was circumcised on a Friday and back in class on Monday! Don't believe what some will post! You will never have better sex until your circumcised! It is also much cleaner and healthier! Mine was $400, but that was 10yrs ago...in office saves a lot of money! Only takes 20 min!

E-mail if u have further questions!
