This varies among cultures. In the middle east people stand very close.
In the USA, about 2 feet is normal. Less than that and people will step back.

Depends on your intimacy level with the person - mostly its 3 feet, but in close intimacy or where your in a position that you have to be closer such as on a bus, in an office meeting it can be several inches. But if it is someone that is a stranger or an ex that you broke up with badly and you don't want their advances that is far enough away that you can't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

I'm a touchy-feely kind of person. I'm comfortable pretty darn close to most people.
However, I live in a rural community in south east Missouri. Most people here don't do standing close, so I'd say 3-4 feet is the norm.

Well if its my love then I dont need any room at all. ha ha. but if its pretty much any one else I need them close enough I can hear them but still far enough away I cant feel there breath.
