I was diagnosed at 25 as being hypothyroid. It's hard because everyone thinks all you have to do is take a pill and it should all be better and it isn't that easy. Most people still have symptoms, even with treatment. If you have an understanding doctor, he may let you increase your dose with monitoring and let you be on the higher side of normal range. Otherwise, I've found that wearing layers and keeping a jacket handy helps. Weight will probably be a constant battle, but eat healthy and try to exercise even though you don't fell like you have the energy to do it. Have your thyroid checked. My wife had thyroid cancer as did a the sister of a co-worker. The sister was only in her twenties. Do not fool around! A malfunctioning thyroid could very well be indicative of a far more serious problem.
Merry Christmas!

Holly, who is currently on the show Biggest Loser has a thyroid problem also, but aside from working extra hard and monitoring her diet, I don't think she has done anything special, contact a physician for a safe answer.

I have hypothryroidism and need to take synthroid for my problem.
Have you talked to a doctor about getting the proper mediations?
It is hard to keep your weight down, but with the right medicine and a healthy diet it should help out more.

It is important to take your medication and follow your doctor's advice. It can be very frustrating but be patient.
And as with any health issue, research it and learn all that you can. Knowledge is power.
