Evidence shows that the UK is becoming increasingly secular. Additionally, there are many non-Christian religions in the land. Whilst I like to give & receive presents like everyone else and I enjoy all the festivities, should the winter festival now be called something other than Christmas?

No. I am an atheist but still love candlelit churches and carols and all the usual paraphenalia. Leave it alone.

Since it is a christian festival which has been usurped and, like every other festival, used as an excuse in the consumerist society in which we live, to go on a spending spree to keep the wheels of capitalism turning. I don't think the fact that it is based on the birth of christ has a lot to do with it, it is just corporate opportunism and I believe that if they could get away with printing pictures of Mohammed without the furore and potential for bombing, then that would be exploited too, just like halloween and easter although Christmas is the biggie.

No, not at all. It has always been called Christmas, it's about celebrating the birth of Jesus and it is apart of our culture. Why should it be ruined for everyone else? I am an Agnostic and I enjoy celebrating Christmas. Also I know quite a few none Christians who celebrate it, including a friend of mine who is Muslim. He decorates his house and celebrates it with his family. Last year when I was working as a delivery driver most of people their were Asians of all different religions and they decorated the shop, wore Father Christmas hats and had a Christmas party.

No, because Christmas is Christmas and the true reason is to celebrate Jesus' Birthday and be with family! I see so many non-Christians also celebrating Christmas.. so I don't see the event becoming secular anytime soon here in America.. I think it's becoming just the opposite. Best Wishes!

Do not change the name Christmas is Christmas and always should be. Its like having a skinny Santas just not done. I am not religious but my kids and family are ( all different types) and we All celebrate Christmas. So keep what we love and do as a tradition alone but take from it what you are comfortable with.
Marry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Marry Kwanzaa and Happy Hanukkah!

It possibly is going returned to a time whilst there grew to become into one in all those extensive multitude of people who believed the certainty, and worked so hard to construct a rustic on religious freedom. no longer lots the liberty to worship a hearth hydrant if that grew to become into what you particularly had to do, yet to worship the only actual God without needing a central authority administration over your church telling you the thank you to worship. This united states as quickly as enjoyed the liberty to worship God. Now they call for the main appropriate to worship their prominent sins, and have it funded via taxpayer money. you have observed that the present government is working hard to confirm trip journeys on your prominent sins, have not you? Inviting judgment, annoying it at instances, this united states isn't any longer on a slippery slope. we are in a freefall. in case you do unlike having a loose destroy day, like maximum different atheists, why no longer finally end up a thank you to maintain busy mutually as the the remainder of the rustic enjoys a destroy day interior the call of Jesus.... you assert you're chinese language. while you're no longer an American, you ought no longer be attracted to trip journeys in u.s.. possibly your submit grew to become into meant for those in China basically?

No, don't change the name that then excludes Christians from your festival. Are you going to change Hanukkah, Diwali, Easter because you don't celebrate them ?
