Oral sex is NOT really safer. True, you cannot get pregnant from it, but you can still get very serious STDs such as HIV, etc.

Which is what decent sex ed would cover

They ask these questions because they do not know the answer. I do not think that it should be up to the school to teach them. It is a parents job to educate their children about sex. Unfortunately most of them don't. Then these kids get the wrong information from somewhere else. This is taught where my kids go to school but they already knew the information when they had the class. I do not know why some people think that the kids will not do it if they do not know about it. They will do it and they will be unsafe because they do not know any better. My children are well educated on the subject and are not afraid to ask a question if they need an answer. They have asked questions for their friends also. Being on here it is evident how much misinformation these kids are given.

While I agree that sex education in schools as it currently is, is inadequate, some of what you said above is incorrect.

Many parents would disagree with letter A, that there is nothing immoral about sex. Some parents are very religious and do not share your views on this.

Oral sex is NOT really safer. True, you cannot get pregnant from it, but you can still get very serious STDs such as HIV, etc.

And asking questions about sex is healthy. Even the best educated person about sex will ask questions when new information arises. While children should be educated better, they should never be discouraged from asking questions. Asking questions may save a child/teenager from getting pregnant, getting an STD, etc.

People think that if they tell kids and teenagers about sex, they'll go and do it. That fails because it rests on the faulty assumption that we teenagers need to have sex explained to us before we'll try it.

We just need to give the basic scientific facts. Forget anything about what you should or shouldn't do; just the facts.

You can't get pregnant from oral sex, but you can get STDs.

Any time you have unprotected sex, you risk getting pregnant.

Yeah it's awkward as hell, but have teenagers learn how to put condoms on. It's not as bad as having pregnant teenagers. Use bananas or something.

The tone of the class should be, "Look, if you decide to do this, this is what's going to happen. Better safe than sorry."

The kids who aren't going to have sex aren't going to be motivated to do it from a class. The kids who are going to have sex can't really be stopped, and it's better to have them use protection.

Kids probably ask that since it has the word "sex" in it.. and they dont really teach it in school at first until you reach high school, and by that time most kids know what people are doing.. but they do teach a lot about when you reach high school..

I guess they're afraid if they go into detail the kids are going to want to do it. But you're right, maybe not go in step by step detail, but enough information so that the kids know how women become pregnant and what happens.
