This one will be a tough call. Week 17 isn't really going to mean much to the Giants in the play-offs. IF they lose a key player for a game that's going to hurt them in the play offs seeing as they don't get a bye.
However they were the team that stopped the last team from going undefeated so they might like a case of champaign from Miami like they get last time.
It's going to be a tough call.
I personally would perfer my team to get a break before the play-offs with the possibility of having my team going to the superbowl.
Of course people are going to be upset if the Giants don't put in their starters to defeat the Patriots. However realistically most of people who would be upset couldn't give two figs if the Giants made it to the play-offs or not.

I don't think Coughlin would have any choice but to rest his starters. He won't - and can't - be worried about New England going undefeated, because he has to be concerned about the wildcard game his team will play the following week.
Every team likes to play the spoiler, but Coughlin is smart enough to see what's more important. If they'd locked up that fifth spot. I'd bet that we see plenty of Jared Lorenzen and the other backups.

Depends. For starters, Tom Coughlin's job isn't to please anyone its to try to win the superbowl and his decision should be based on what he thinks gives him the best chance of doing that. With or without his starters, he might find New England to be a bit much, but no coach should ever tell his team they cant win so Im sitting you. But in all honesty, I think its probably the best decision, that way if they get blown out, it wont be his starters getting blown out. New England would also be more likely to sit their starters if New York was sitting so who knows. But again, his goal is superbowl not beating new england.
As another side note, would you want to be the team that beat new england in the regular season and then meet them in the superbowl?

depends if the Pats are sitting their starters. but anyone who's healthy will probably play. knocking off an undefeated team the last week would give the Giants a ridiculous amount of momentum for the playoffs. They'll play but they'll still lose.

I'd say play your starters and give it your best...To a point....
If NE cranks up the offense in the first half and blows them out...They both should sit their starters for the playoffs....
If by some miracle, the Giants have a chance to win....Hey, that what you play for....

Coughlin's obligation is to the people that sign his paycheck (the Giants). He has to do what is in the best interest of the Giants, not to NFL fans in general.

If their position in the playoffs wouild be unaffected then I'd say rest some of the starters to avoid any chance for injuries.

He is paid by the Giants to win... Not paid to make sure another team loses... He's gotta look at what's better for his team, his management, and himself...
