A better way of looking at it is you should always question everyone, including yourself. This is especially true for authority because they control you to some degree.
It's not that this means one should disagree with everyone automatically, but that one should have a very good understanding about the context of any relationship.

People are for the most part selfish, and if you want to benefit from any sort of relationship you must question the nature of any 'fact' or 'opinion' you come across since it may be entirely self serving for the person saying it to you.
