They stare because they are curious. I am half black, half white like your son. I'm sure people stared when my mom took me out. It was no big deal though. She's perfectly fine, and so am I. If I saw you and your son out, I would probably stare out of curiosity too. But of course I would mean no disrespect.

It depends on who is doing the staring. Younger women who are yet to have children are thinking about the idea of child birth and analyzing the process of your parenting to see if it is something they would wat to do. A younger guy is probably thinking about the interacial porn he watch last night. Older Women usually just like to look at children b/c of their maternal nature, and find mixed children to be asthetically pleasing so they stare at them in adoration.
Old white guys are the only place where you will run into any significant amount of racism, and it is more based in mysoginism than it is racism. The views on women that are held by some old men are more disturbing than racism. If you look back white women were more oppressed and for longer than any minority group. Also, it is not regional, it is nation wide. What it is they see white women as sexual property, and black men as farm animals. So they are probably disgusted with you and see you as someone who committed beastiality, and further that you did not have the right to make that decision or that you are somehow being victimized. You should look at some of the segregation era literature from the south that was distributed by pro-segregationalists. Their entire platform was basically that they were trying ot prevent white women from being humped by black men.

I suspect that when people look at your son, they probably are thinking about what they want to have for lunch, or where they might have left their car keys, or who will do what in the Super Bowl.
People don't notice other people so much anymore. Unless they say odd things like "shine down", then they wonder where that person might be from.

If you have to ask such a dumb question you shouldnt be a parent. To be a parent you should beyond any doubt not give a damn what small minded ignorant racist people think. You should instill pride and love and the knowledge of how much more beautiful your child is. If you give all this to your wonderful child you wouldnt be asking such a question. Sad.

It could be because your son is extremely handsome. Think positive! Smile.... I love children and bi-racial children are gorgeous.

Maybe your baby is just very beautiful or very ugly. Don't just assume everything is racism.
