Did you have a vaginal ultrasound or an external? The yolk sac should be found in the gestational sac along with the baby. The yolk sac does not turn into the baby. The yolk sac is what sustains the pregnancy until the placenta can take over. It has a role in the transfer of nutrients for the developing embryo. I hate to say this but non-visualization of a yolk sac in the presence of an embryo has been associated with embryonic demise in patients either at the time of exam or on follow up. I am hoping that the tech did an external because with an external ultrasound, you don't get as much detail as a transvaginal scan. So maybe she didn't see the yolk sac because of that. I would have them do an internal ultrasound on your follow up. I hope that all turns out well for you and I don't want to worry you, but the yolk sac is necessary for fetal well being. Hopefully like you said it was where it couldn't be well visualized. They yolk sac if there should be visualized up until 8 weeks gestation. Good luck to you and I hope for the best.

I wanted to correct that the yolk sac should be visualized up until 12 weeks not 8, it reabsorbs at around that time.

When I first found out I was pregnant with my son, the doctor wanted to see me right away. My cycles were very irregular and I had no idea how far along I might be. He did an ultrasound, but absolutely NOTHING showed up. He had me come back in three weeks and lo and behold, there was my bean measuring seven weeks and one day. After having my son, my cycles regulated and I found out I was pregnant five months after he was born. The doc wanted to see me right away again. I went in and he did an ultrasound knowing full well that I was only around four and one-half weeks pregnant. Again, nothing really showed. The beginnings of a yolk sac were there and my endometrial lining was super thick. Other than that, there were no signs of baby. Once again, three weeks later, I had a repeat u/s and again, saw my new little bean.

I'm rather confused though, I thought that the sac was the yolk sac. I truly think that you have nothing to worry about. Do you have to go in for a repeat scan anytime soon? Perhaps you should call your doc/midwife and talk to them, so that they can reassure you.

Did they are asserting if their became something interior the sack. being pregnant with an empty sack is a blighted ovum. that's the place their is a sack yet no toddler. you will nevertheless have a favorable. it may desire to be the beginning up of miscarriage. Or it may desire to be that your not as a tactics alongside as you nevertheless. in line with probability its early. Its not continuously conceivable to work out a heartbeat at 6 weeks, Plus if your some days or a week early you wont see one. Ask the physician questions and ask for assessments. Blood artwork can in many cases tell if your HCg tiers are doubling.

The sac is what your baby is in. You wouldn't have a baby in there if you didn't have a sac. I'm confused.
