A total distortion. He has repeatedly, over and over and over again refused to attack Mormonism.

The media has been desperately trying to get him to attack Mormonism. It's kind of like the vegetarian. Everyone just desperately wants to make them eat meat, just once. Huck's the nice guy who won't attack, and it makes them want the attack so much more.

This comment was taken completely out of context, it followed a comment about how little he knew about Mormonism.

People who think he's a baptist trying to preach, and clearly have no conception of what he stands for, will jump on this. However, they had their mind made up long ago, they are as irrelevant as they have proven to be ignorant.

It makes absolutely no sense for Huck to attack Mormonism. If he had wanted to attack Mormonism, he would have a long time ago, and certainly not now that he needs to push to get evangelicals in Iowa. If you think he did, you sorely underestimate his political savvy. This is a desperate media attempt at a story.

He's simply repeating what he's heard, true or not... and there's a lot of BS out there!!!!!

The answer to Huckabee's ignorant question is...

Yes, Mormons believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers.... On a spiritual level, we are all children of God and therefore siblings.... You, me, Moses, Noah, Mr Huckabee, Adolf Hitler, Mother Theresa, Stalin, Ghandi, etc....

Jesus (as well as every other being born on Earth) took the opportunity God offered to gain a physical body. Satan rejected that opportunity.....

So-- Yes, they're brothers, but no, Satan was not born to Mary.... just Jesus and the children she had with Joseph (James, John, and some un-named girls, according to the Gospels in the New Testament).

Edit-
I just had a thought. Mr H says he doesn't know much about Mormonism then asks a question about something he's heard.... I'm not so sure his intent was to "attack"... maybe he was just wondering about the validity of what he'd heard....

(Just trying to give a guy the benefit of the doubt.... But- no, I don't plan to vote for him.)

Dittos to Biff --

I am now more uncomfortable with the idea of Huckabee being president than Hillary -- I didn't think anything would or could put Hillary in a good light [not that I'd vote for her either].

Huckabee, with his religious intolerance, is anti-American. That's why we left England, but then again, why we left with Brigham Young. A little sad that so many who claim to be American will deny it's very roots - religious tolerance and freedom of religion.

There's no such thing as bad press. Lies, yes, but all who are really searching for truth will not be hidden from truth. If they have faith and ask God to know the truth, they will.

And in this corner the Baptist Preacher and in that corner the Mormon Bishop. Yeah they both believe the other is evil/wrong...yawn. Maybe they'll cancel each other out...I find the utter hypocrisy of both disgusting. Now you know why I'm no longer Mormon or Christian!

I think he's simply trying to pander to the massive percentage of Christian conservatives that are afraid of mormons. It's become really popular lately to theorize that Mormons are trying to force our children into polygamist relationships, and he's just jumping on the bandwagon.

Any idiot with that skewed of a perception on a major religion has no business in the White House.

I don't see any attack on Mormonism in the article you cited.

All he said was that

- he considers Mormonism a religion not a cult.
- he doesn't know much about the religion.
- he has heard that Mormons believe Satan to be Jesus' brother.

Where's the attack?

For a president to be a true leader, he needs to be benevolent to all citizens and not show a bias. That fact that he is doing so BEFORE he is elected is scary.

the more I hear about Huckabee the more I think he is a crackpot. He comes across like someone who wants everyone to follow his faith - forgetting there is a huge cross-section of ideology - secular and religious.

Personally he lost me at the whole AIDS thing and then solidified his bufoonery at the women should graciously submit to their husband bit.... someone is giving him enough rope... he is hanging himself ;)
