II have to agree... if she is supposed to be American.. why not do something for the Black youth of America. The black community is always asking for and needing help. Why would she not help her own people.
I hope to God that if Obama wins, he at least has more respect and caring for the kids of his own country than one halfway round the world.
Charity begins at home... but I think Oprah likes to play God and figured she would get more undying loyalty from the African kids than here... and lots more publicity.

I think that Oprah did not open a school in Illinois for the needy local girls because it would have sent the message that REPUBLICANS are right the public school system that we are stuck with is BROKEN. She would be saying that a private school would be safer, more productive and better for the community. Instead of the Democrats mantra of 'Just spend more money and everything will be OK'.
Obama has already said that he would make it a national priority to save the people of Sudan. How many Billions will that cost? And realistically saving another country has never worked.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have done more for African children than anyone in the world. You could say the same thing about them. But the fact is, Oprah is a global philanthropist. She has not turned her back on American kids. On the contrary, she has also donated millions of her own money to school systems in America often without press or fanfare. Fact is, it is her money, where she wants to help people is up to her. By the way, Bush recently asked Congress for 30 Billion with a "B" for African Aid. So this is not an Obama/Oprah agenda. Its a people agenda. And if you want more specific info, email me or Google the subject.
Edit: Never mind here you go:
In 1998, Winfrey began Oprah's Angel Network, a charity aimed at encouraging people around the world to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged others. Accordingly, Oprah's Angel Network supports charitable projects and provides grants to nonprofit organizations around the world that share this vision. To date, Oprah's Angel Network has raised more than $51,000,000 ($1 million of which was donated by Jon Bon Jovi). Winfrey personally covers all administrative costs associated with the charity, so 100% of all funds raised go to charity programs.
Although Winfrey's show is known for raising money through her public charity and the cars and gifts she gives away on TV are often donated by corporations in exchange for publicity, behind the scenes Winfrey personally donates more of her own money to charity than any other show-business celebrity in America. In 2005 she became the first black person listed by Business Week as one of America's top 50 most generous philanthropists, having given an estimated $303 million. Winfrey was the 32nd most philanthropic.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Oprah asked her viewers to open their hearts—and they did. As of September 2006, donations to the Oprah Angel Network Katrina registry total more than $11 million. Homes have been built in four states—Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama—before the one year anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Winfrey also matched her viewers' donations by personally giving $10 million to the cause.
Winfrey has also put 250 African-American men through college
Winfrey was the recipient of the first Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2002 Emmy Awards for services to television and film.

The mind of a child has a close connection to what education could mean. Of all the friends and acquaintances that have a stellar education I do not think one is employed in the field of their education. Is the education a means to an end or is the time on the job education enough. The idea that school is for everyone and we need a program funded by the public is not for me. We need an army of mentors that will encourage people to achieve their goals. Not many of our leaders education has mattered and many of the CEO people have never graduated. The mind of a child could be a good thing we have tried every thing else.

Oprah didn't shun American children, the federal government has. Take away the federal governments ability to direct our national education, and our children instantly have the ability to become smarter. Allow local and state governments to become more responsible for their children, and they will. I think she definitely wants a black president to win. Do I think she is rascist? No. She is extremely successful and wants to help out her "people." Wouldn't you if the role was reversed? My point is this, don't blame Oprah for "No Child left behind," blame your reps. and senators, congress. Our public education will continue to fail when you take away the educators ability to dicate curriculum and give it to Washington.

Who knows?
Maybe Oprah's agenda is VICE PRESIDENT.
If that is the case, she could be more dangerous than Hillary Clinton could even dream to be.
