It's true, female athletes can delay the onset of puberty because of their low body fat %.
There's probably not a thing wrong with you. Each girl develops at their own rate. Some start as young as 9 and some not until they are 15.
Not having boobs is an asset for a swimmer!
And unless you want to miss 7 days of training while you are menstruating, learn to use a tampon.
If you are truly concerned, have your mom take you to a doctor for a check up.

Ok well first the quiestion is How old are you? Yes when you are active some develope slower. But that doesnt mean that you wont develope ok. And do not wear a tampon by no means if you are still a virgin or under 17. I have a daughter who is 11. She hasnt started her period, or have pubic hair, but she is developing in her breasts. Kids develope at different times and I bet that all your friends havent started they may be just telling you that they have. So believe me dont rush it ok. It will come in time, just enjoy being a kid for now, cause you have plenty of time to be a woman. Good luck sweetie.

How old are you?
I started my period and started wearing a tiny bra when I was 11. One of my friends started both when she was 14.
Everyone is different.
It is true that your breasts will develop later because you are involved in an active sport. It is also true that you may not get your period, if ever, because you are involved in an active sport. There are many women out there who never get a single period because they are soooooo active. This doesn't mean you are not ovualting though. Which means you can probably still get pregnant...so be careful.
Nothing is wrong with you. Just give it time!
And wearing a tampon is better than wearing a pad that had blood on it. I know it sounds scary, but trust me...when you do start your period and you are ready to wear a tampon you will do it on your own!

Everyone develops/grows at their own pace... dont be in a hurry or think you should just because your friends are! Thats how peer pressure is started.... ie: your friends are doing drugs. Are you going to join them because theyre doin it?? Or will you find a group of friends that are more like you and want to succeed in life?
Dont worry. Dont be in such a hurry to grow up... enjoy the younger years while you can.
p.s. you didnt mention how old you were... but if it helps, i didnt start my period until 17 yrs old. Tampons are waaayyyy better and way more comfortable then any bulky ol pad!! You will like them once you try them! And as for breasts... I still dont have much there an dim 24!! So there may never be hope! Lol... But im perfectly happy with how I am!

There isn't anything wrong with you. You are probably just starting puberty. You will get your period soon enough. The positive thing about being athletic and getting your period is that your crapms will be less severe and painful.
I didn't get my period until I was in 8th grade, and I also didn't start using tampons until the middle to end of my 9th grade year.
So don't be embarrased and scared if you haven't gotten your period yet. Be happy that you haven't gotten it yet, because it can really make you feel sluggish on some days!

I haven't heard of developing slower beacause of a phisical sport. I have heard that periods are usually lighter, missed, or really short because of them though. I think that you are Ok. I didn't get my period until I was 15 (I'm 18 now), but my breasts did start to grow when I was in 6th or 7th grade. It may be because you are so small (no offense). I know girls who are really little and haven't developed breasts until they were 15-17, if they did at all. It's normal. Don't stress about. Just because your friends have doesn't mean that you will. You're body is different than theirs. You're fine.

Each girl is different with their developments. I started my period at 13 and didn't get breast until I was about 17, and a majority of my friends started way eariler and got breast alot eariler as well.
The fact that you are a swimmer/athlete means that your cycle and development is going to be way diffrent than the advrage girl. So yes to your question, you do develop slower because you are so active. (But the perk to this is you will have shorter periods and less of them! Trust me, people will be jellous of that)
There is NOTHING wrong with you! All of this is natural so I wouldnt worry about it. And with the whole hate wearing tampons and pads, join the club.
I think you need to speak with your mother about this one or possibly your school nurse or a female figure you feel very comprable around.

we are/were(im were) so similar. i share/shared your pain. when i was 12, in 7th grade, all my friends already had some chest and i didnt. i was 5 feet and athletically involved. at that age i didnt start yet .it is true that if you are athletically involved you develop slower, but also because you are still very small. i was 72 lbs. i dont think tampons are the best things to start with but if your mom did it, then it should be okay cause she can help you. well since i was in your shoes andd i am fine, nothing is wrong with you. you probably have high metabolism like me, so you just need some meat on those bones!! that part is hard so good luck!!

How old are you? generally girls get there periods from 11-16 I got mine when I was 14. Sounds like you started puberty, next to follow is the period and boobs. Dont worry, nothing is wrong with your body, every girl is different and you should not compare with your friends. When you start your period you will have to wear a tampon in water. They are actualyl comfortable and you cant feel them at all! sports do not effect your period at all, that is a myth! At the most they keep you in shape so that your period is more healthy. Dont rush the natural process, your will regret wanting to get your period so bad haha

Ahh don't worry about it. In my case, yea that saying was true, I played baseball and lacrosse and didn't start my period until I was 14, almost 15. My friends razzed on me (they apparently had theirs at like 11 or something and were jealous =P) and you dont have to wear a tampon, I wouldn't until your periods are regular (it takes a few months if not a year sometimes, and they don't hurt, and are pretty easy) Your starting puberty now, and it'll take a little longer (maybe a few weeks/months now) since your hair started to show for your period to come. Don't be scared of whats to come !! Trust me on this even though you don't know me. Best wishes, and hey, forget about everyone else, dont compare yourself to them, you just get to have fun more longer than them!!
