I have seen it done mainly in Australia where they use the Ford v8.
But as said why most tuner cars can reach high bhp.
Why is there this attitude of tuner vs muscle ,and its always funny that it has to be muscle cars all the time against small engines tuner cars, never a Domestic car against one, unfair i would say.
The tuner range covers a vast choice including evo's skyline nsx and Subaru 's and many more these can reach muscle car bhp and with a lot smaller engine, muscle is great and love them but this argument is silly.Muscle is great and fast corners are a no go tho.and have to have big cc engines, tuners are great as they have little engines but offer then to be tuned to high bhp limits and are great for corners and also come in RWD and AWD versions.
So yes you can but depends on the car and again try adding a tuneable engine instead.

A Viper is a high end sports car, not a muscle car or a tuner. Any car can be made into a tuner, tuners "usually" start out as four cylinder coupes or sedans and power is added via turbos, injectors, intercoolers, headers, exhaust, suspension mods, body mods (which do nothing for power, but do look good). A Viper needs no mods to smoke the tires, stock power started at 450 horsepower when it was first introduced and now exceeds 550, gotta spend a few bucks to get 550 horses out of four cylinders. Muscle cars were big engines in medium size cars, pony cars and small cars, went like stink in a straight line but not so well around corners at high speeds. Technology today can make an old pony car handle extremely well with the addition of better springs, torsion bars, sway bars, shocks, brakes, etc. Just because you see Vipers in "drift competition" doesn't mean they are tuners. They are rear wheel drive, high horsepower sports cars with manual transmissions.

It depends on the brand of engine and brand of car and whether it has enough space in the engine bay for a big engine.
The best tuner cars are 4,5, and 6 cylinder cars. A tuner would not do too well with a Musclecar engine because the engine would be big and heavy and it would mess with the handling of the car since the front of the car will be very heavy.

Why waste a good engine on a piece of junk tuner, They never could support the horsepower or torque these engines produce. Plus there driven by the wrong end of the car. You would have to build a complete tube chassis to support the engine ,trans and drive line..

I've seen it done to late 80's style Nissan Z's, but not newer style cars. It sounds to me like some little ricer is getting sick of getting whooped by muscle cars in racing and finally decided that Tuner cars are way out of their league to Muscle cars...

You could put one in a go kart if you wanted to,but why would you want to?Back when hotrodding was in its infancy they would swap big motors from cars like cadillac's and put them into small cars like a '32 ford because there just wasn't any performance parts available. Now day's there are plenty of parts out there to give your tuner muscle car performance without major automotive surgery

It's possible, but you would have to convert to rear wheel drive, probably add some structural support as most so called "tuners" dont have a frame. It would be a major project. I have seen examples of this being done, ie a Ford ZX3 with a 302 in it.

What would be the point? Those little ricer cars can be pumped up to get well over 700hp. I dont think you will need more than that.
Heck I have an RX8 that puts out 650+hp and its got the original engine in it. Granted its gota few mods, but thats not the point.

It's entirely possible. The weight distribution would be horrible. But it has been done.
Here's a video with a V8 civic hatch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmP3au8UoXc
and CWSTuning put a Cadillac Northstar 32v V8 in an MKII VW Golf.

Overall, its not that practical, but can be pretty cool.

NO!!! the frame on a tuner is not strong enough for a muscle car engine. It's to heavy plus the torque would twist the entire frame. In order to do it you would have to re-enforce the entire frame.
