Are there any new hockey players on your most beloved team, that you dislike, and wish they would go back to where they came from? Who?

For the Penguins, any veteran named Petr Sykora, Darryl Sydor, and Ty Conklin (some pick up that guy turned out to be...he was treading water in SW/B!). Talk about a trio of useless bums!

The three guys who have actually helped the Penguins stay near .500 are Dany "I'm not Jocelyn Thibault" Sabourin, Kris Letang, and Tyler Kennedy. The latter guys are rookies of course, but that's okay given that the team captain is still too young to sip a pilsner in Pittsburgh (and given the Peguins' play some nights, be thankful that kid isn't a full-blown alcoholic). If the Penguins are lucky to make the playoffs, it will be because of the aforementioned trio.

The Leafs have Toskala and Bell from San Jose and Jason Blake signed as a free agent. So, my report, one at a time:

Toskala - The Leaf's season has gone up and down with his play. It seems that if his game is even a little off, Leafs lose. He seems to have shed his early season tendancy to let in a soft goal late in the game, and has been playing much better over the last ten games.

Bell - Suspended for the first 15 games, took him another 5 to gind any sort of groove. Wasted little time taking over the lead for team penalty minutes. Looks like he can be a tough guy to play against, good hitter, not a lot of scoring touch that I can see but he adds some value to the team for his grit. Overall, I think we need to see a bit more of him in order to get a fair evaluation.

Blake - Look up "Snakebitten" in the dictionary and you'll see Jason Blake's hockey card. Diagnosed with leukemia after the team's physical, had to be tough on him. Being in every highlight reel for save of the week has to be tough on him as well. I've never seen a guy work so hard with so little to show for it. Leads the team by a mile for shots taken and needed a recent lucky streak just to hit the 4 goals he has. Still has a lot of hustle on most nights but can't help but wonder how much effect the illness has on him.

Huge asset, Roman Hamerlik- our best defenseman so far. Kyle Chipchura- I really like how he plays, he will never be a top line center but I do see a great shutdown center in the future. Plays smart.

Dislike: Sergei Samsonov oops that was last year, now he is LITY's problem.

Bryan Smolinski our supposed upgrade on Radek Bonk. Seems as if all we got was a 4th line center who plays avg defense, takes untimely penalties, provides little offense and gets paid 2M per year.

OK, I hate to say this because he is one of the classiest guys ever, but I'm glad to say goodbye to Alexi Yashin.

As for hello? Well Bill Guerin of course. He is even classier than Yashin!

I'm really liking McArthur even if he is doing the back and forth between the Sabres and the Amerks. Sekera is winning some favor with me. My problem is the already established. Thibault, guh.

I'm so glad that we got Matt Cullen back from New York, we had a rough year last year without him.
