The best would be an Apple MacBook-Pro, problem is that it's at the top or over your budget.
For Windows PC - I'd recommend a Dell.
If your college offers it, get your laptop from the campus store. Dell for example has Dell Student Initiative program on some campus' not only will you get a discount on the laptop, but the warranty covers the laptop the entire time your enrolled at the university.
Dell has an on-campus facility where they can repair your PC in a few hours, all you need to do is drop it off. It's great for financially and mobility challenged college students.

Windows Vista Laptop, Xps are going out of date in the year 2010, their really good as a gaming computer since many things only work on Vista now. getting more ram is also something you should do when you get one, dont get one with less than 1 gb ram but i recommend 2gb cost anywhere from 600 to 1000. for a good graphics card and a fast cpu
it would be an extra 1000-1500 dollars.

do no longer style IN ALL CAPITALS - it somewhat is impolite AND ability you're SHOUTING. That relies upon upon the sport. some video games may be put in, run, and performed on a working laptop or laptop (pc) without an information superhighway connection mutually as different video games require an information superhighway connection to place in them no longer to point run and play them. The equipment could desire to show you how to already know what's needed for that game alongside with the minimum laptop specs or maybe if if or no longer an information superhighway connection is a ought to.
