Mich and ohio state - huge rivalry but lopsided results.
Boston and the yanks - the 2nd biggest in sports.
Detroit red wings and the avalanche - non-existant.
Usc and Cal - not sure, but I assume it's as big as Mich vs. Mich state.
Pistons and the Pacers - no rivalry...just 1 big brawl and nothing since then.
Michgan vs Michgan state(basketball) - huge rivaly in ALL sports.
Duke vs North Carolina - not sure.
Ottawa and the maple leafs - big rivalry but not the biggest in hockey.
colts and the pats - I think this was 1 big game which is not a rivalry.

You missed:

Montreal-Toronto. The biggest rivalry in all of sports.
Edmonton- Calgary. The battle of Alberta has been a pretty good rivalry for many years.
Detroit-Toronto. Moving the Leafs to the east destroyed this rivalry, but it was huge for many years.
Boston-Montreal. Was and to some degree, still is a huge rivalry.
Montreal-Quebec City. This was very short lived, but I saw some intense games during the time that QC was in the NHL.

Bob
fan and television interest in the Toronto/Montreal rivalry has been dropping for years.

The last 4 years, the Toronto/Ottawa tickets have sold out first at the ACC and last year, 7 of the top 10 televised games in Canada were Toronto/Ottawa affairs..........although the final Montreal/Toronto game had the 2nd highest ratings in HNIC regular season history.

When I was a kid growing up in Montreal, Montreal-Boston was always a bigger game thaN Toronto (we looked down upon Toronto) and a lot of times the Maurice-Gordie show was a bigger game than Montreal-Toronto. I never had problems getting tickets to see the Leafs as a youngster, you could get those on game day a lot of the time.

I think part of the mystique is they are the only two teams to have played a full schedule in each and every season in the NHL's history....and between 1936 and 1970 they were the only Canadian teams.

Habs and the Leafs are IMO the biggest NHL rivalry.

I don't really consider the Pats and Colts rivalry that big. Generally, division rivalries are much bigger in the NFL. Cowboys/Iggles or even Jets/Pats. Media hypes the whole Brady/Manning thing but it isn't really a huge rivalry.

Yanks/Red Sox is HUGE.

Don't forget about these: (keep in mind I'm from buffalo)

Buffalo Sabres Vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Sabres vs. Flyers
Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins (even with how bad they are playing)
Mich. Vs. Penn State (football)
Mich. Vs. Notre Dame(football)
NY Rangers Vs. NJ Devils
NY Yanks Vs. NY Mets

There is a whole butt load more that I could list, but I'm just gonna leave it at that. I agree with every one that you listed above, just figured i would add a few others that people don't really think about.

My female pal and that i accompanied the Cubs final 365 days on their west coast holiday. as quickly as we went to the Friday night game at Dodger Stadium, people have been throwing stuff at us and swearing at us. My female pal went to the restroom and a few dude have been given in her face for no reason different than the incontrovertible fact that she's a Cubs Fan from Chicago. She got here back from the restroom crying because of the fact of ways she became dealt with. together they have been the main rude followers I had ever are available in the time of. those people have been in basic terms there to discover a combat. Oh and Dodger canines style like rubber. Sorry to be so bitter. even with the incontrovertible fact that this is actual.
