I live in the state of Wisconsin so do I have to quit or be fred to get unemployment. The reason for me quitting is that I have no car I ride the bus. The closest bus stop is like 15 blocks away and I just cannot walk that far anymore to get to work so what do I do to get unemployment until I have my baby. Thanks

First of all I am not lazy, This is my first pregnancy and I am having alot of problems with it. I tried the carpooling thing,There is no one I work with close by me, I live very far in suburbs. Like I said I do live in Wisconsin so it's very very cold here and ALOT of snow so it is very hard for me to walk 15+ blocks twice a day. I am not living off of society. I WORK FOR EVERYTHING I HAVE. Ican go on maternity leave when the time comes but we have no benefits so I will not gain anything from it while I am gone. I also plan on getting a new job closer to home after my baby comes. I am not looking for a "easy way out". So if you cannot say something that's going to help answer the question I asked then do not post a reply. And FYI- I don't collect anything from the state no WIC NO FOODSTAMPS NO WELFARE- That's not the way I live my life. I work hard for everything I have. So for the males who have something smart to say try being pregnant and doing the things us working women do while

This one can be easy - just let them know you are pregnant and they will find a reason to fire you. Sad, but true at most places. the answer to your basic question is YES - they have to fire you and to collect unemployment the reason has to be sketchy, which it will be unless you are just blatantly late or not working and they have documentation of it. Just remember when you file for unemployment to tell them you are pregnant and you will probably get it because they'll know why you were REALLY fired and not the reason the company gives out.

You will not receive unemployment for quitting because you think you have to walk too far. They have to fire you in order for you to receive it.

Can't you carpool with anyone? Or can someone give you a ride to work? I'm sure there are other ways around this.

Unfortunately, you have to be fired to recieve unemployment. You might want to ask your job just to put you on a leave of absence. That way atleast when you have the baby you can come back to work and still have a job. I hope this helps good luck... and congratulations

Don't quit your job. Walking is good for you and the baby. I walked all the time when I was pregnant. If you quit you will not get unemployment and when you get fired you are penalized for 9 weeks, depending on what you got fired for. The company will probably fight it so you won't get the unemployment anyway.

If you could get unemployment by quitting your job, who would work? You would have to be fired (or laid off) in order to qualify. Have you looked into carpooling?

what style of incapacity? considering which you stop, you quite particularly close the door to any place of work incapacity. And being pregnant would not qualify for social secure practices incapacity. in case you have some style of deepest incapacity coverage which you have been identifying to purchase that covers momentary incapacity using being pregnant, you are able to persist with.

I live in California. I know that in order to collect unemployment insurance one has to be fired...unless you quit because they were not paying you. And then one can't collect if they were fired for stealing from the company or sexual harrassment.

Think hard before doing this, if you lose the work won't you lose maternity leave and chance to go bak to work after ?

Sorry, but you have to be fired to qualify. I was in a similar situation when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Once you quit or get fired how are you going to take care of your baby and medical costs of having the baby and after care and well-baby check ups...

Oh let me guess...ANOTHER DRAIN ON SOCIETY!!!

So on top of not having a job and being a complete drain on society b/c you do not want to walk you pregnant *** a few blocks to work, you also want unemployment. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

This is why I am disgusted with society. I bust my *** to get through school, joined the military so that I could get an education, work 2 jobs to get through graduate school and now have to pay higher taxes so you can quit your job AND collect unemployment.

Please have SOME self-respect and just walk your *** to your job and do not become yet another drain on society--YOU will be the downfall of America as we know it!!!

P.S. Way to start out setting a good example for your soon to be future drain on society--have to go out of your way to get to your job...just quite. WOW I have a lot of hope for your future spawn.
