Come on ... I think this one is easy .... the Media doesn't want to admit that we're winning and aren't happy about it. They'd rather more US troops die and the mission fail than have our leaders corner them in the North in their last strong hold.

The fact is our troops are winning. I know this because I am one. We've beaten back Al Qaeda because of the troop surge.
The key is haters that when we pull our boys out if it is going to make them come back like roaches. Since Sunni and Shiites are working together and aiding US forces there is a high chance that they won't come back.
Afghanistan has been in the news. The Taliban is on a come back that is why we are calling for more troops in the country from the Coalition as well as using our own to beef up the forces that are already there. Not to mention we've already pulled a lot of troops into that country because of the rising violence there and the fact that is going down in Iraq with Baghdad returning to normal.

Because the media is no longer involved in true journalism and reporting. They are involved in a ratings war and entertainment. Positive news has little entertainment value....DRAMA, violence and sensationalism and the superficiality of Hollywood is what draws ratings. It amazes me when high school drop out "stars" , and political has beens are spewing words from their mouths and I have to listen to it being quoted on a "news" show.
By the way.....thank you for your service to our country, sir!

First of all, "the media" are not a single entity.
"Media" is a plural word. The media are vastly disparate, often unconnected organizations/newspapers/magazines.
They do NOT represent one single interest, and there is no vast conspiracy to under-represent conservative (or liberal, for that matter) interests.
Interestingly enough, if you talk to someone who's liberal, often they'll say "Why are the media so conservative?"--exactly the opposite complaint.
If you were consuming news on a daily basis from a number of different sources, you'd see that the troop surge and the subsequent decrease in violence has been EXHAUSTIVELY covered by any number of news media. I'm at a loss as to why you haven't noticed. You can't just watch CNN or read one newspaper and decide they represent the entirety of the U.S. media.
Now let me highlight JUST A FEW articles that have covered the decrease in violence since the surge:

And since you're emphasizing that you're in the army, let me remind you of the huge numbers of journalists who embed themselves overseas with U.S troops, in harm's way to report on the situation.
I have a friend who just got back from a six-week stint in the Middle East, where she witnessed a suicide bombing. It's not easy for journalists either, and despite what some ignorant and small-minded people will try to tell you, we're not out to get you.

If no news is an indicator that we're WINNING in Iraq, then we must have WON in Afganistan. Since that item is nil. Because it's not in the news doesnt tell me anything. The news media is caught up in all the election BS. And dont tell me that all the candidates idle chatter is not BS. Anyone would think that elections are a game. Nothing seems to mean much these days, when it comes down to honor, truth, and integrity.

I don't think the media is interested in having US troops die in Iraq. But, I don't think they are interested in saying ANYTHING positive about the republican administration either. After all, there is an election coming shortly and they won't say anything that could have a negative impact on Hill or Obama.

when there was alot of casualties and problems the media plastered it on front page and countless news items.
now that things are improving its going mostly ignored.
the media is against war and the democrats have lost there scare monger tactics to use (minus pulling out all troops now).
the media will never admit things are improving or give it alot of air time.

Your absoloutly right.
Disgusting to think the soldiers lives lost so people can speak and think the way they do. Then others do not appreciate the sacrifice made so we all have these freedoms. The press is very biased towards conservatives.
