Does Bush even know the meaning of the word "compromise"?
What happened to the "compassionate conservative" ?
Would his "favorite philosopher" Jesus Christ deny children access to Health Care?
Why does it have to be his way or no way?
Why are Republicans determined to help the RICH through war profiteering while ignoring the needs of the poor and middle class by vetoing SCHIP?

And before any of you Republicans try it, the SCHIP program NEVER would have covered "rich kids" or those who make $80,000 per year. And a two income family with four children bringing in $80,000 is nowhere NEAR being "rich." So keep your rhetoric and propaganda to yourselves. Thanks!

Because war funding will eventually stop.

Once a government entitlement grows, it never goes down.

Seriously though, the Dems were trying to expand S-CHIP beyond it's function of helping the children of the working poor get medical coverage.

Even their poster family, the Frosts, were able to afford owning their own home, 3 vehicles including a Volvo SUV and GMC Suburban, a private school education for both kids, a commercial building they owned, etc., yet somehow couldn't afford medical insurance for their kids. And they were already covered by the existing program!

Living is about choices. This family could have chosen to forgoe some of the luxuries to get medical insurance for their kids. Expanding the program meant free health care for even wealthier families.

Bush believes he can walk all over the congressional Democrats and unfortunately those Democrats do very little to change that impression.
Bush doesn't have to compromise because Democrats cave. Sad but true.

Many voters elected Democrats because they wanted real change, an end to the war and a big part even impeachment. The Democrats have delivered nothing. I know Nancy Pelosi ruled out impeachment which in itself was a cowardly and low move but day after day, there are more credible reasons to at least have an investigation but the Democrats won't move. That fact alone is enough for many I believe to reject this cowardly congress.
Then the war, despite the cheap excuses and technical reasons the facts are they could end it if they had the courage to just stop funding.
Unlike impeachment technically though they did try to get the impeachment vote as well, they did promise an end to this tragic war
The longer the war continues and American soldiers die for the lies and vanity of Mister Bush the more it shows the Democrats lack the spine to ever become more than the lesser of two evils. No political courage in the Democratic party ever, always trying to stay in the middle. Look at the questions from before the 2006 election. People can and some will deny it now but they did elect this congress to stop the war. They failed because these career politicians always choose politics over ideals and principal.

Of course the Republicans are gonna try to make them fail to be able to paint them as the do nothing congress. Obstruction and sabotage is an essentail political weapon of the American right. The article states Democrats are afraid they will loose because Republicans lost when they opposed Clinton. Different time and different situation. This is once again an exapmle how the American right always pushes the envelope while they are in power and the left, if they are even left, maybe I should start calling them less far right, always tries to be reasonable and cater to the middle. If the Democrats stood up to this charade the American public would understand just like they understood Bill Clinton was right when the Republicans tried to obstruct him.

All it takes is some courage. Voting Republican at this point is like throwing oil on the fire because the pressure on the water isn't strong enough. There are alternatives for the two mayor parties

More and more it gets clear the Democratic party will probably never be more than the lesser of two evils and the American people should look for real change outside of the big money driven two party system

Bush did not tension congress to fund the war he in simple terms stated that he planed to veto the style of bill with a timetable for troop-withdraw; which the democrats are making use of as a chip against bush. Incase you haven’t observed whilst ever you turn on the information it fairly is frequently "that's your on a regular basis reminder that president Bush nevertheless plans to veto the Iraq spending bill, yep he nevertheless hasn't replaced his innovations *duh*" So bush isn't forcing them to fund the bill they only ought to compromise on the info, that is what politicians do. The democrats are in simple terms going to long previous approximately it non supply up till that is over. Now the president isn’t soliciting for a *kind spanking new war investment bill* in any respect, the previous one in simple terms expired and desires renewing. yet extra realistically wars fund themselves, because of the fact the war Boeing’s inventory has sky rocketed and company is sweet, gas expenditures have long previous down, and we are helping to do away with terrorists interior the middle East, and as quickly as Iraq is sweet, why we are able to have 2 Israel’s battling for an end to terrorism. the only difference being that Iraq (unlike Israel) isn’t comprised in many cases of Jews.

We need to defend ourselves.

SCHIP is a Republican program, which the Democrats are trying to ruin. Their "fix" will make the problems worse.

Why don't the Democrats compromise, and only ruin the country a little, rather than a lot?

:)
