Obviously this is an opinion based question. Meta critic is a site that index all known reviews and gives an overall average of scores. From on line reviews the #1 rated game of all time is Zelda: The Ocarina Of Time. The #2 game of all time (believe it or not) according to meta critic is Super Mario Galaxy.
Now, my opinion is the best game ever is Resident Evil 4 for the Game cube or PS2. I prefer the PS2 version because it has a few extras weapons, free art insert and bonus disc not in the Game Cube version. I played through that game 5 times. I beat all the mini games Assignment Ada and the zombie arcade game. I unlocked every single thing and I still play it to this day. It set a new standard for last gen graphics, story telling, horror and game play. In my opinion it is the greatest game ever made. Hands down. And, I love on line play. This game had none and it didn't matter. Its a game everyone loves. It also ranks in the top 15 of metacritic. Thats for all time. Its simply the best!!!!

In my opinion the best game of all time is Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time for the N64. It was revolutionary for its time, and is still very enjoyable to play. LoZ-OoT is a timeless classic.

Halo 3 of couse because of ranks and custimation of your spartan it totally owns gta and super mario hands down and you can even talk to people through xbox live makeing the experience way better then running around and shooting random computer characters, like gta and better then hopping over stupid 2d mushrooms like on super mario halo 3 finish the fight.

Final Fantasy Tactics is such an old game but I still play it every time I go to my friends house. (I dont own it myself). Easily at the top of my list of favorite games.

personally, the grand theft auto series. they bring a whole new dimension into gaming. more specifically, i'd say grand theft auto vice city, i love the eighties theme.
can't wait for the new one to come out!
