Under the Licensing Act 1872 it is an offence to be drunk in charge of a bicycle (or any other vehicle or carriage, including a horse, cow, pig or steam engine) on a highway or in a public place. The penalty is a small fine or up to a month in prison. I believe that your driving licence remains unaffected.

Supposedly no longer, This regulation is rather hardly enforced, until there is an twist of destiny the police tend to look any incorrect way. To be smart approximately this, toddlers below the age of say, 10 for risk-free practices's sake could desire to be allowed to trip on the pavement, yet at a low velocity.

You'd be drunk in charge of a carriage. Because you do not require a licence to ride a pedal cycle, there is no licence to lose. You can be procecuted under the Road Traffic Act.

In America, we can get a driving under the influence, just as if it was a car.

But it depends on where you were allegedly committing the act too. In America, you only get charged if you were cycling on the roadways. If you are riding on a dirt bike path, or on your own property, they can't give you a ticket. - Although sometimes they will anyway and you have to fight it.
