Yes.
I have a compact rod and reel, that I take backpacking. I caught trout in the Colorado river, inside the Grand Canyon a few years ago. They were some of the tastiest trout I have ever had.

In fact I do. It has Snoopy on it. I've had it for 30 years and only used it once. That worm was slimy!
