I am an interior designer taking my first trip to london and paris next year. I want to get the most out of my experience there and hopefully gain some inspiration and knowledge that can be applied to my work. I want to know what are some "must see" sights in those cities that every interior designer must explore in those cities.

Next make a short list of Shops, department stores or specialist shops you know about and which you would like to see.
If you are into the cutting edge of interior design, get some magazines and shortlist also some clubs or restaurants.

But do not forget to plan some time to enjoy being tourist, it is very annoying to go home and realize that you have not seen any of the things you would have visited if you did not have a plan.

I dont know much about interior design, but if you are looking for tourist destinations that inspire, check out the Tate museum of modern art in London, the Musee d'Orsay and Versailles palace in Paris. If you want to see actual cutting edge room design, I would suggest that you just go to some of the more upscale boutique hotels in both cities, and just tell them you would like to see a room.
