Who is linking Ortiz to steroids to begin with other than bitter Yankee fans on Yahoo Answers?

Ortiz's offensive numbers have gone up since drug testing has been in place, and why would he wait until they were banned to start doing them? He is the same size he was when he was in Minnesota. His homerun total has gone up, but it is because he has become a better overall hitter, which is reflected in the fact that his average is higher every year, and the fact taht in Minnesota, he only got over 400 at bats once, where in Boston he has been over 600 3 straight years. Obviously anyone could be on this list, and i'm sure there will be a surprise or two, but Ortiz would be shocking. Your more likely to see the names of guys whose careers were the reverse of Ortiz, with good offsense early in their careers, and then as soon as drug testing was implemented they fell off the map, see Bret and Aaron Boone for example

I guess I wouldn't know how I feel until I check things out tomorrow after the report is released. You'd like to think that all guys using steroids are the "bad guys". Surly guys with attitude problems or desperate hangers-on trying to get ahead are the steriotypical roids users.

Happy-go lucky guys like Ortiz would be suprising because the personality doesn't fit the profile (right or wrong) of a roid user. I wouldn't be conflicted suporting anyone on my team if the use was in the past and they aren't doing it anymore. But I would be disappointed if many "good guys" were on the list.

I hate the notion that everyone is juicing up. If the more popular players that make up the face of the game showed up on the list, it may confirm that suspicion. I would feel betrayed at that pont. It doesn't mean I wouldn't be a fan. I would just have to be careful about whose jersey I buy.

Not a Sox fan but I could go either way. As a baseball fan, one always has to be curious when a guy goes from pretty good to all world within a relatively short time period. The only thing with Ortiz...basically, he's fat. He doesn't display the chizzled physique that a lot of these 'roid guys have/have had throughout the years. Remember Juan Gonzalez, Brady Anderson, Bret Boone, Ken Caminiti, Luis Gonzalez going from absolute bean pole to ripped almost overnight? Sosa, McGwire, Bonds? All displayed the obvious signs of use. I'm not saying every player with a good physique is a 'roider but these guys got their physiques wayyyyyy quicker than any natural body builder ever could. If Ortiz was a 'roider, frankly I'd be somewhat surprised. He's fat now and he was fat when he was with the Twins too.

Most baseball fans don't want to see any names on the report because it is a black eye for baseball. I am not a Red Sox fan but I can tell you I would be very disappointed to see the name of Ortiz on the report just as I would be disappointed to see the names of anyone on my team. This should not be viewed as a contest for fans to see which teams have the most players on the list. By the way, the report will be released to the public tomorrow and there are about 50 names on the report.

first off let me debunk myth. FAT GUYS CAN BE ROID USERS TOO. As a personal trainer I know many VERY overwieght users of steriods... they have massive muscle underneath that fat... has anyone watched a SINGLE World's Strongest Man contest? Most of them are heavy set guys. Having fat on you can make you stronger. That being said, Ortiz is a PRIME candidate for steroid use.

He came out of nowhere and gained his power during a time where there is no testing. He could also very well be using HGH since there is no blood testing for it now. HGH use is most likely the next thing baseball will have to deal w/ and I'm sure the majority of players are simply using that now.

Ortiz is starting to get injuries earlier in his career. Just like Giambi, Mo Vaughn, Albert Belle. His career pattern and injury pattern mirror that of a steriod user EXACTLY. A few big massive years followed by rapid decline and injury. Watch Ortiz closely... I can almost promise you he's using something, and I don't say this as a Yankee fan. I say this as a personal trainer, nutritionist, and an avid body builder myself who has researched steroids. Don't let the logo fool you... I'm a baseball fan first.

I hope david ortiz is not on that list. Hes my fav player and if he is , it must be because of some injury he had and the doctor gave it to him without him realizing it was steroids. In other words, he took it legally.

I would be surprised if any Red Sox players are on the list, Mitchell does not want to poison his own investment.

No I have better things to do.

If he's on it tomorrow, which I highly doubt, i'll deal with it then.
