Makes no sense at all. Try again. To perpetrate means to do something with a negative connotation--such as perpetrating a crime. Getting is the act of acquiring something. The police tried to discover whom the perpetrator was of the convenience store robbery. The boy was happy because he would soon be getting an ice cream cone.
