it again and therefore should be left unable to do so by means of castration. He should not be allowed to reoffend.

Im sorry but i disagree with your comment about the power thing, yes it is about power but they also like getting the pleasure too especially the paedophiles and the only way to fix that is to get rid of whats giving them that pleasure ie the penis!

Having been raped as a young child and again as a young woman, castration isn't going to do it. Hanging or some form of execution will. Take those bastards out of the population entirely. I'm not even sorry if this offends people. I really want those animals gone.

What a great idea!! Lets add all kinds of chemical urges to someone who is already mentally and morally imbalanced! Add that to their frustration- mix it up with some humiliation and anger- lets see what comes out of THAT mess!!! Adaptation will be the name of the game for this type of criminal. Rape doesn't necessarily involve or require a penis. Nor does sexual assault or child molestation. Castration will not affect what is going on in the BRAIN. Many of these sickos do not attain sexual satisfaction from their crimes, many are not compelled by the sex alone. For some it's a mind/power game. All I am saying is that they will resort to other means to satisfy whatever urges they may have. IE-horrible violence, horriffic torture. Not that any crime of this nature isn't- but this would be much worse. I am ALL ABOUT protecting the victim-the innocent. I also personally know an 8 year old girl who was abducted and raped 2 years ago 3 blocks from her home, and know all too well the trauma this assault has caused her. She will be affected for life. I'm not taking the offenders side- IN THE LEAST. The victim has all of my sympathy and concern. The offender is most certainly to be punished- Unfortunately chemical castration is NOT the answer unless you want to make it worse. There should never be a "next time" for any offender, but I don't have the answer.

Not true at all. The rapist at the center of the Huckabee pardon scandal was a chemically castrated rapist, who, after being pardoned, went on to kill. The people who do these things are ANGRY. If you take an angry person and castrate him for hurting kids or women, he won't blame his own actions. People like that never do. He will blame the women or kids for doing that to him, and become even angrier. Then he'll turn to some sort of phallic symbol; a broom handle, a beer bottle, a knife or even a gun. The big pleasure for people like that is the pain they inflict, even more than the pleasure they experience. If it was just the pleasure, most men could find a willing partner, even if they had to pay for it. These folks get a thrill from pain and domination, which they can inflict just as well without a penis.

Men that commit sex crimes, especially against children, should be castrated. They will re-offend. They can't be rehabilitated and they never get the life sentences they deserve. There sentences are actually unbelievably short for the atrocity of the crime. Castration is the best deterrent and works for those that have already offended. It's a fitting punishment as well. For women? I don't know what to do about female offenders.
PS I like some of the answers I've seen about putting these people to death. We just make sure there is irrefutable evidence that they did it, then CHOP and CHOP.

You seem to assume that the U.S. justice system is infallible. As long as human beings run it mistakes will be made, and, given that, a mechanism must be in place to correct those mistakes. It is therefor not within the moral or ethical prerogatives of the state to take anything from someone beyond it's ability to restore later. A man falsely imprisoned, as increasing numbers throughout the country are being found so to have been, can be released, what do you propose for a man falsely executed or castrated?

The state of South Carolina used to chemically castrate there offenders...Now the don't because they found out that the person will still commit the crime anyways...Its not physical but mental stimulation that the person is after.....the same as a rapist....Its not about sex its about control and fear...The only way to make sure they don't re-offend is to take there life...These ppl do not need to be ion prison they have mental problems...If the thought of having sex with a child turned me on then i would be at the shrinks office begging for help, not at the police station...I think being put to death is the only sure answer like it or not....

Castration would perhaps go part way to dealing with the issue. What about predatory female abusers? Not all abuse involves erectile penetration. Where do we stop? Fingers, hands. What about those that exploit children through viewing on the internet. Eyes maybe? Perhaps it is a psychological flaw. Lobotomies?
I doubt that these crimes are about sex as such, but rather about power over, terrorising and manipulating others. I am admittedly ignorant of any successful treatment to rehabilitate these people. Death perhaps?
I'd probably support the death penalty for any convicted criminal who elected this over a lifetime in prison. But would this cheat the victims of their sense of justice?
Thanks for the thought provoking question.

As a man who has had his testicles removed 15 years ago...
There is no longer interest in sex at all.All those fantasies in the brain go too.
As for removing the penis...unnecessary ...it shrinks from the lack of testosterone in about 3 years and never gets erect again.
anger goes away as well ...i think it is a hormone thing...everything is just serene.
I think physical castration not chemical is a excellent punishment.I don't think it is cruel. My life was not damaged in anyway by my testicles being removed.
I think it would be a deter ant if we showed the procedure actually being done.Hiding it accomplishes nothing.

rape is not really about sex, so if a man is an abuser he will find another tool (pardon the pun) to use. If it is just to punish then sure, cut it off but this will not stop him from victimizing other people.
Rape is about power, thats why you have to keep an eye on young kids who like to abuse animals. Its all about power, rapist just use their bodies to over power, others use guns and knives, some use words.

By all means, let's have a designated set of people that we can mutilate and torture just to prove to ourselves that we're better than someone.
Some pundit not too many years ago suggested that ALL criminals be executed, regardless of the crime, since everyone is either good or bad. Capital punishment has certainly eliminated homicides, hasn't it?
Hmmm, isn't this approaching the Islamic sense of justice?
"Good news, DNA evidence shows you were innocent after all! Sorry about the gonads, though."
So the school teacher with the 13 year old boy gets a complete hysterectomy and clitorectomy? Fair is fair.
