Yes, of course. Republicans chant the mantra about Democrats' "taxing and spending" but this mantra has become hollow and meaningless in the wake of bush's nine trillion dollar debt.
The Republicans are left holding the bag on this one. They have seriously enlarged the federal government and overspent far beyond anything resembling "fiscal management" and the Democrats should bring it up OFTEN.

I would target that issue more than any other. Bush spends like a democrat and the democrats have a golden opportunity to grab the high ground on fiscal responsibility. But to do so they would have to turn their tax and spend programs around on the Republicans and move to a pay as you go fiscal plan. Especially with Romney and Giuliani running. The democrats are too fixated on Iraq, forget Iraq as an issue, you voted for and funded it, call it a draw and work up the budget deficit and the Republican spending and they could pull a lot of conservatives over in the general election.

As an objectively thinking Conservative I say YES, this is our weakness. Spending has run amuck's. The Democrats must exploit this to their advantage over and over or they will not win.
John McCain is the only Republican I will vote for this primary. I pray for Huckabee as Vice.
"We came to Washington to change government, instead Washington changed us.". (John McCain)
The true GOP Conservative is of fiscal responsibility, though we live in dangerous times and our economy though strong could receive a knock out blow with the right terrorist strike.

Yes, that is one of the key issues in the '08 election. Democrats would be remiss if they did not point out the glaring failures of the Republicans.

I don't care what they do, as long as they do SOMETHING this year. It's almost 2008 and they haven't even sent the President a budget plan, but they have talked about how inefficent the Iraqi government is.Pot/kettle anyone? And they've gone on vacation, AGAIN!

Yes, the near doubling of the natl debt and the growth of the public payroll are the dems' strongest suits after Iraq.

As a conservative, I say YES!!!! Bring it on.
It is a weakness that the libs can not talk their way out of - after all, they are complicit in those years and their voting record would prove it..
It will strengthen the position of any true conservative on the GOP ticket.
