gangs HAVE a family structure, that's why they are so attractive to kids whose real family has none. kids feel secure when they are part of a group with rules and expectations, where they have a valuable place. the family should be that, but many times it isn't. also, children need a father figure, which is often not present in gang members lives. and children need an authority figure, so they know they are valuable enough for someone to look out for their welfare.

Uh... yeah. In fact, if you contacted some former cops in gang heavy areas, they'd probably tell you that gang members will seek out kids who are having problems at home.

I think that they are taking the place of family structure in the lives of kids that have no family structure.

Gangs are mainly area's and your area are like your family cause you grew up with them and they are like your brothers , where i used to live we used to back each other up , now my family moved away from their it is still like that because we grew up with each other - in my experience my new area are ok and would help but won't die for you like the my other area

Yup for all races....Whites Mexican and Blacks........even Asian and Arab....its crazy...make sure you teach your kids well and your there as a family so they dont have to go look for one....
