If it had been any white player, first offense, first time getting into any trouble, said he was sorry, got treatment, they would be playing today.
Michael Vick is the latest victim of racism. His sentence should be commutted, and he should be back in the NFL. The reason they were so hard on him was because he's black. Vick killed dogs he didn't need, he electrocuted and hung them, which is how the government kills people. What happened to all his other dogs? They're all dead! They were killed by the humane society, but that's ok! When Michael Vick kills his own dogs, they call it murder.
Racism is alive and well!

No, it's not the attempt for the white man to stick it to the black man. You should look up on line other cases of dog fighting convictions, where others have gone to jail for the same or similar amounts of time. In fact, one person is put away for 102 years. He had 17 counts against him, and the judge gave him 6 years per count. It was in I think Houston City, Alabama. And they weren't all black; though I don't know what their nationalities are in each of these cases. These cases just don't make the National news like Vick's, due to his notoriety.

No! If Brady, or Manning did this then their punishment would be just as bad if not worse. This is not about race. Race is not an issue in this at all. This is about cruelty to animals and the fact that Vick hasn't shown any signs of being remorseful for his actions. I can't believe this is even a question, and why does any one has any sympathy for Vick?

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are both way to classy to do anything like that.
I wonder why Martha Stewart went to the pen. She is a rich white woman incase you did not know.
Also anyone being prosecuted in federal court is going to jail the feds don't go to court unless they have an air tight case.

It is the illegal gambling & racketeering that got his @ss in jail, not killing those damn dogs! Sure dog killing is incomprehensible to MOST people, but it doesnt mandatorily carry jail time. He could have used the argument that they were a danger to mankind and he is probably right (Pits trained to fight then unproperly managed are USUALLY the ones responsible for attacks) and his killing them in whatever manner would have been justified and not punishable AT ALL. He chose to illegally gamble on the fights and THAT is what got his @ss in jail.
There are PLENTY of whites in jail for gambling and racketeering...Italians to be more specific, but white none the less.
I searched my states DOC database and there aren't ANY people in prison (those with less than 1 yr to serve usually stay in county jail and are not on the site) for killing dogs. The charges Vick is doing time for are Federal and killing your dog is not a federal crime...

Nobody knows....
The problem is that Brady and Manning are happy making their millions of dollars. They don't need to make an extra $800-$1500 every month training dogs to kill each other.
They aren't morons.
I loved Micheal Vick. I thought he was going to be great, but he's just a waste of hall of fame talent.
I do think the punishment was harsh though. But why is he even pissing with that?

How can killing dogs be a race issue? Vick was actually sentenced on the lighter end of the scale when considering what he could have gotten.

You're kidding right. People like you are one of the reasons race is still an issue. Hanging dogs is illegal regardless of what color we are. Amazing that you would believe that. Comments like this are part of the problem in society. A man commits a crime and race is brought up. Dude, his own buddies rolled on him, point fingers at them if you have a problem with this. As for me, I love my dog and I find what Vick did as sick.

i dont know which is worse...those making this a race issue, or those who continue to ignore the facts of the case.
for the record, he ADMITTED to the crime! this is not a set up, an attempt at oppression, or anything else other than a stupid human being making stupid decisions. and then not owning up to them when he could have mitigated the consequences before they got bad. and then when he DID confess, he continued to be an idiot when out on bond.
Why must we always excuse people from their personal responsibilities? Vick blew it. period. because he is stupid, not because he is black.
