No, women who are single parents have the right to make their choices. It's called freedom.

i think it depends on the reason. i think bringing a child into this world as a way to fullfill a need to be loved causes emotional harm to a child, but that scenario is true in married couples too. i think a woman who chooses to leave a bad relationship for the sake of her safety and that of her children sets a good example for how the kids should expect to be treated. a woman who has a baby on her own but doesn't let the father be involved is doing the kid a diservice. men are important in the development of their children.

And their visiting their loved ones in the hospital and filing joint tax returns and having their partners inherit their estates affects you personally how exactly? Would you even be aware of these issues if you didn't read about them in the newspapers? Oh, yes, and you "normal" people includes wife abusers, drunks, drug addicts, axe murderers, and tax evaders.

What about single people who adopt children? Especially those who adopt older children? Should they be admired for being willing to take in children that most couples don't want or should they be criticized for not being able to find a mate? What about the children themselves? Is it better for them to grow up in foster care or find a permanent home with a person who is willing to provide that home but also happens to be single?

Absolutely!
Not only that ... the baby deserves better!
i think the following is worth its weight:
I'll bet you do have very real 'feminist' inclinations:
For a start:
Do you believe that the number of girls chosen by universities as 'med' students should be equal with the number of guys??
Do you believe that women should have equal pay with men with families?
Do you believe that a man has no more right to a job in the workforce than a woman?
Do you believe that a woman's prime role is out of the workforce and in the home "pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen", tending to her husband and family?
Do you believe that government should put a woman off her government job once she gets married? [This was the practice. and it worked the economies and job market brilliantly! Only 1% unemployment during 1950s, and that meant full-time employment for nearly every family then too!]

what the hell is a scrounging disgrace?
Whatever it is, I don't think I'd describe them that way. Selfish and misguided, probably. People that care more about what they want than what's good for their kid(s), usually. Active practitioners of the tenents and often even advocates of a modern, regrettable and deeply detrimental reordering of familial priorities, yeah.

I think they are both nuts and selfish. but it´s not a legal crime. It is a crime against the poor child which has to grow up without the benefit of two parents of different sexes in the house and therefore receives a skewed view of the world.
