I hate calling this the addition method, since you can subtract instead. I call it cancellation.

Subtract the two equations
0x - 0y = -8
0=8 is clearly impossible so there are no solutions.

Another way of thinking of this:
How can 8x-7y equal -5 and at the same time equal 3?
It can't! So there are no solutions.

No solution: 8x - 7y can't be both -5 and 3.

No solution (d). Both equations are same. You have 2 same equations in x and y giving different numbers on the right hand side.
