Why would he make my life misrebale despite everything ive done for people around me? I mean I dont expect to get anything in return from those around me ,but man why do I get sh*t on by everyone? You know what GOD dosent exist. Its just those around us who use us for support and then claim that God was the one who "saved us" . When are people going to learn that all you have is those people around you who you have. And some of us have nobody!! Im not an athiest or anything I just dont believe that there is some guy out there thats able to control our live and that "works in misterious ways"

Righteo then Captain Agnostic...

Firstly... what makes you think that, even if there were a god.... and he were doing such.... that you would be able to comprehend his reasons behind doing so with your puny little mortal mind? How the heck do you suppose mere mortals are supposed to understand the inner reasoning of a god?

Secondly... do you ever consider that it might be your perspective that is screwed up? I mean... how do you know you're being shat on? How do you know that what you're getting isn't good, kind and generous? Have you known far better things in order to judge? Do you really have some sort of expectations for what you think you SHOULD receive to which you are comparing what you actually do? What honestly makes you believe you don't deserve to have your limbs cut off and your body hoisted down by the shoulders into a pit full of a nettles and fire-ants?

And what for an instant makes you think that your god.... existant or not..... is a just and benevolant god? Couldn't he just as easily be a callous and sadistic bastard.... thus justifying all you've said?

This might sound harsh, but from a philosophical perspective, your suffering has little if anything to do with the answer to the question of whether or not God exists. At issue in your querie, is not so much God's existence, but whether or not God is benevolent and interested in the world. Aristotle believed in the existence of God, but asserted that this God has little interest in the world. As far as the influence of God in the world, Thomas Aquinas postulated that God works through secondary causes, meaning that his interventions in the world and in terms of our lives will most often be evident in natural, rather than in supernatural ways. Supernatural intervention would be extraordinary, as such you have to discern the presence of God within what is called the causal nexus of finitude-- which is a fancy way of saying in ordinary events and circumstances. I don't know from your question what kind of God that you believe in, or are rejecting belief in, but many believers do not subscribe to the notion that God is some kind of cosmic power that is there to make our lives easier and give us what we want. Instead, God is the sheer act of being itself, that which nothing greater can be thought, who reveals himself in all the events and circumstances of our lives, be they postitive or negative.

If things were going well with you, would you then say that God exists? Is your judgment of God's existence is based on your evaluation of how well your life is going? If the God you want is One that acts in the ways you want, then you are probably looking for a servant or friend and not God. If, by definition, God is a powerful, supreme deity, then objecting on how things are going is basically rejecting this definition and the existence of God.

I'm with you on this one.

I have tried and tried and tried. I have prayed that I might be in a loving relationship. Answer? No I have prayed to be successful at what I do. Answer? no I have prayed for sooooo many things that I have been denied and I can't believe that everything that I've ever wanted would not be in God's greater plan for me. So rather than believe that there is an all-knowing, all-seeing benevolent God who wants me to be miserabel, and rather than beleiving that there is an all-knowing all-seeing Practical jokester God who INTENDS for me to be miserable, I'd rather believe that there is no God at all.

Doing good things for those around you do not necessarily mean that you will merit favour from God.

Salvation is very vital before reasonable service could be rewarded. What I meant is that, you must have surrendered your life to the saviour.

Whether you like it or not, GOD is existing. Suffering must remain since the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Maybe your life is miserable because you are going in the wrong direction in life. Christianity is not easy but it is the only way that offers the love, peace and salvation of God. God will use hardships to punish, to build character or to lead you into a closer relationship with him! Are you living in the way that he would want?

You came to the right place. Your question is being answered by lots of folks that belong in the religion section. Start with your own frustration and pain. You were taught to believe a certain tradition and are reaching a normal time in life where you begin to question and to reject parts of that tradition. This is normal. Everyone must make their beliefs their own by going through this process. Most people experience this doubt early in adolescence and begin the adult process of searching for what makes sense to them. It is a life time of work, but has rewards every step of the way. You don't have to throw out everything at once, of course, but you need to begin to read and question. You need to begin to love wisdom for its own sake. It will lead you to an authentic understating of your own traditions and who you are. Then you can "be" there for yourself and you can begin to live without all the guilt with which someone else has burdened you. Good luck on your journey.

Well for starters, you might want to clear up whether or not you believe in God. Second, I do not believe in God either, so my answer would have to be that you need to be around better people that see you for what have done and give you credit for it. I'm sorry to sound so mean.

I believe there's someone out there who works in mysterious ways. One of my neighbours around 4am every morning flashes his porch light exactly 6 times, steps outside, spins twice and goes back in. Mysterious...

As far as the existance of God goes... I hope there's something, partly because I don't want to stop existing after I die but I think that if there were someone who could have created everything that exists with basically the thought to do so, s/he'd have to be something far beyond what I could comprehend and I don't assess blame to them for the bad times or necessarily give thanks (okay, I do give thanks but just because I'm polite) just because something good happens. I just go with the flow and kill the time while I'm here watching my mysterious neighbour.

RastaMan...you are fortunate to be writing and having connection, and all this technology at your service when there is plenty of people in the world who don't have anything and still beleive in God. I personally think you have MANY reasons to believe in one.
