Doe ,,, thanks Ross.

I am so sorry i have just realised about the soldier. it is on war memorials i think. My great grandfather has his name on one. I was thinking about the movies. I really hope that this has not upset anyone. I open my big mouth before thinking.

Ok dear lady
I will try to explain
John Doe is
every man's name

It's ment to reffer
to the average Joe
That his name no one knows
Thefore it's just simply
known as John Doe

The Unknown Soldier
is just what it says
He's a soldier that died
In a tomb he lays

He was interned there
to represent all of them
The unidentified dead
Who died to keep us free...Amen

The only set of remains in The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier to have been identified were those of 1st Lt. Michael Joseph Blassie. Upon identification, his remains were exhumed and a proper burial was given to him in his home town of St. Louis MO.
There are 3 other sets of remains, one each from WWI, WWII, and the Korean Conflict.

There is an interesting article on the Urban Legends website. I have provided a link.

No. They don't exist. "The unknown soldier" is a figure who represents ALL the unspecified soldiers.
